OFFLINE | Yeah, I agree, horror needs those character dynamics to remain interesting and make you give a **** about the story. But 2 minutes of a guy crying over his dead wife is just... unnecessary. I love for characters to have personality and for the movie to make you think about how they feel, I just think there are better ways to do it. |

I totally understand. As for that particular scene of which you speak of, at one point I just got fed up and actually blurted out loud, "Oh stop being a **** and just put a slug in the ****'s head already!!" Of course, it made my older brother turn around and look at me strangely for saying for that (he wasn't aware of what I was viewing at first, of course), but yeah that **** got a little annoying. Nevertheless I'll be following the series to see where it goes. Of course, there could be a chance where I may feel like it just drags too much with all the crying, longwinded dialog, and/or academy award driven dramatics or whatever and should that occur for sure then yeah, I'll probably give up on it and lose all hope for sure. As long as there's a nice, healthy balance between the visceral and the philosophical then I'll keep following this series for sure. |

OFFLINE | These are some of the best horror/psych/drug movies I have seen. Filmed in the 60's

Oh, I think it will kick ass for sure, regardless. I mean, Breaking Bad's last season started off slow as ****, but by the end I was cheering for it. I bet this series will be somewhat similar like that. But like you said, I expect their over-the-top drama **** to slow it down a bit, but AMC is usually pretty good at this ****. |

What's this stuff like?
It is really trippy. Influenced by acid, switches from black and white to color. The movies were filmed in Brazil, by José Mojica Marins, who plays Coffin Joe in the movies. There is drug use, nudity, and really trippy scary scenes. Just think of it as a visual representation of Electric Wizard. |

OFFLINE | Sorry, this stuff was filmed in the 60's. I believe I was thinking about another director of weird horror movies I saw on IFC that was directed in the 20's and 30's. |

waitaminute!
cough Cannibal cough Holocaust!
Seriously though, I know what you mean. Every shark flick from the 70's is full of dead sharks. Either hanging all over the boat decks/docks or being pushed around by a diver chasing/fighting/eating the swimmer. I don't have issues watching and animal be killed as part of the plot (because it's fake), but to know that for the shot to work something had to die...it is unsettling. |

A chunk of what you wrote was missing too. I haven't even heard of those, Imma gonna have to do some Googling.
As far as current "trippy" movies go have you seen "Wristcutters: A Love Story" or "Small Town Folk"? No drug use in the, but trippy as ****. I don't consider them horror/thriller but that's what I found them under. |

hahaha! yeah, I'm not gonna lie for I do own Cannibal Holocaust on DVD and even find it to be one of my top 5 horror/exploitation films of all time, that is in my own personal/humble opinion but even then I found the live animal killings in that one to be a bit extreme or unnecessary, though honestly the only time I felt any sort of outrage was when that poor sea turtle got mutilated. As for the other 'martyrs' on the set, it didn't bother too much because unlike say, horses a lot of the critters that took one for the team during CH were the kind that people eat anyway, particularly tribesmen and such and therefore you can't really condemn a community of people who eat a certain way because after all last I checked, a majority of Americans are meat eaters so it would be kind of hard and rather contradictory of me to point fingers. Just sayin' |
