... Naima apparently has a voting thing behind her and Karen does not.

That's why I think the results should be a combination of fan vote and the judges voting because they are looking at the true talent.  Sure I think they have their favorites that touch their heart but in the end without their input, it becomes a contest of who can organize the most votes.

Motown Night kicked it !   Some incredible performances !  this will narrow it down to the ten who will do their summer tour.

I'd have to say the night belonged to Jacob Lusk, totally in his comfort zone and maybe his best yet with "All I Need To Get By" ...

Kicked it off with:

Casey singing "Heard It Through The Grapevine" ... I really, really enjoy him ... has a Jack Black sort of endearing quality about him when he sings ... he should be safe.

Thia ... yep she's got talent and a future, just no showmanship just yet ... at 16, well give her time ... "Heat Wave" was just ok to me (girl ain't got no "soul") ... I see her in danger

Lauren did "You Keep Me Hangin On" ... I like her, just not much of a performer ... I think she lands in the bottom three.

Stefano sang "Hello" ... one of my fav Lionel Richie songs ever ... and a favorite David Cook performance, Stefano should have watched David, took note and tried his best to duplicate it.  Did not work for me BUT I think he's safe ...

Haley ... "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" ... I liked it, but I think she's in bottom three.

Scotty put a country twist on "For Once In My Life" ... he's safe ... his smooth, comforting voice makes me smile (and he's only 17) !

Pia ... "All In Love Is Fair" ... girl is gorgeous !   Has great pipes !  To me though, she lacks personality in her performances ... she's safe.

Paul ... my favorite from the start (soulful, tender) ... "The Tracks Of My Tears" with acoustic guitar ... when he started signing, I thought wow sort of Bob Dylan-like and that's the same comment Steven Tyler gave in his critique ... he should be safe but I worry about his ability to generate the vote.

Naima did "Dancing In The Streets" ... the lady is a performer !   Maybe not the best voice, but she moves comfortably and can dance !   Maybe that is it ... she looks comfortable when she performs ... love her confidence ... should be safe.

James Durbin wrapped up the night rocking Stevie Wonder's "Living For The City" - WOW !

Another great night for the men... the ladies.... better than last week, but not quite up to par with the guys. I did like Haley. I think Thia will be going home, but.... you never know!

Jann, yep ... the guys are definitely crushing the girl competition.  Gotta wonder if some of the girls would not have made it if the Hollywood portion of the rules were not for there to be even guy / girls making it to finals.  And I agree, Thia should be the one to go at this point.

Hey Barb ... yep ... I wondered when they announced Steven Tyler as a judge.  He's so hyper ... bet it's hard for him to sit there still and focus the whole time.  Everything was "beautiful" ... if he's not careful, he's gonna get rumors started about him (like the Paula rumors).  Don't get me wrong, Aerosmith is my favorite rock band of all time and love me some Steven Tyler ... *slurp*

Scott, Scotty is awesome ... seems like the kind of young man you'd want your daughter to bring home ... LOVE HIM ! ... he performed very, very well ... I'll bet all the lil teenie-boppers are swooning over him !

day-um! all i can say is thank goodness the judges used the save!

but now, 2 go home next week!  :-(  just hope it's the right 2!!

(did not want to post to ruin it for anyone who had not tuned in yet)

I really think Casey brings something different to the show and is a lot more talented than three of the girls (Lauren, Haley and Thia).  I think he even has an edge over Stefano just because of his showmanship.  He's different ... I mean he goes from Nirvana to Marvin Gaye ... come on ! ... glad he gets the tour too.

And like you said Jann ... next week two will go ... let's hope the Casey faithful figure out how to generate more votes.

Just had the opportunity to watch the DVR'd performances of the great Elton John / Bernie Taupin works from last night since I was busy   last night.

Scotty is rock solid, always !  I'm always amazed that he is only 17.
Naima ... *sigh* ... I wish she did better but trying to reggae Elton John is sinful ... she's in danger, I think
Paul ... I wish he had picked a different song (like Tiny Dancer)... nonetheless I still love him and his unique style
Pia ... yes she can sing beautifully but I always feel she's uncomfortable ... or like performing in the talent show at a beauty contest.
Stefano ... sang one of my favorite songs "Tiny Dancer" and it was just okay for me ... he could be in danger based on performance
Lauren ... good job with Candle In The Wind
James ... Saturday, personally I did not like him tonight
Thia - Oopsie on Daniel ... she should be one of the two to go
Casey ... he proved he is up for earning his save ... I "felt" it when he performed and to me that's the true test ... he got me
Jacob ... always solid
Haley ... gave it her all and had the best performance of the night with Bennie and The Jets, one of my least favorite Elton songs

I'm thinking the bottom three will be:  Naima, Thia and Stefano based on last night's performances
