WOW ... this had to be the best week collectively of the American Idol competition ever !!! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame week ... tons of song choices so NO excuse to get the song choice wrong. Right ?
Jacob ... Man In The Mirror to start off the show in a VERY positive way ... but did have to roll my eyeballs that he passed up Let's Get It On because it's not who he is morally (a weak attempt to get more votes, maybe Thia's votes ? dunno ... but sort of turned me off). He could be in bottom unless a combined Thia and Naima votes save him. PS ... at first I thought that was Naima singing backup ... lol.
Haley ... Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart and she rocked it ... not many (except Melissa Ethridge) can rock a Janis song but Haley owned it, got mad, nailed it and I think it was her best performance yet.
Casey ... CCR's Have You Ever Seen The Rain ? excellent choice combined with his musician talent ... this is what he should do ... I like a happy Casey instead of performing an angry, crazy Casey. He is showing the judges that he's earning his save ... two times over now.
Lauren ... Natural Woman ... too big a song for this youngster ... good, but nope compared to the rest ... she should be in danger.
James ... George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps ... I like that he tried to change it up by doing something unexpected in the week that should have been his comfort zone ... and it was good, not my favorite but very good ... he's safe based on his entire body of work so far.
Scotty got to do his Elvis with That's Alright Mama ... loved it !!! ... his place at the top is safe, safe, SAFE !
Pia ... *sigh* Pia ... so many choices and you pick Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High ... NOOOoooooo ... unless you are a power house and can OWN the stage ... please, no Tina Turner ... Pia's voice is probably the best in the competition BUT she's boring ... I wonder if she can shake those hips ? SHAKE THAT BUTT GIRL ! strut your beautiful stuff, maybe ? No, okay ... well boring, no passion, no performance what so ever ... she should be in the bottom three. A beauty pageant performance, at best.
Stefano ... if America gets it right, he is going home ... very poor performance ... his vocals were all over the place.
Paul ... *sigh* ... Johnny Cash's Foulsom Prison Blues ... very solid and fun GREAT performance filled with passion ... he rocked~a~billy'd it and made it his own ... he had the pimp spot ending the show and everyone left rocking and feeling good !
Bottom: Pia, Lauren and Stefano ... with Stefano in big trouble ... I think.
