Benny & the Jets is not one of my favorite Elton John  songs either, but Haley nailed it and she got a vote from me!

Your Song is one of my favorites, and Casey did a bang up job!

Tiny Dancer is another favorite, I thought Stefano did pretty well- tough song!

I think Naima and Thia will both go.... but I have a gut feeling that Paul might go.... he mentioned before he performed that his band had done that song and it was a "train wreck".... not a good message to voters!

Naima, I don't know, I just got the feeling she was trying to hard to be someone she's not? I like reggae, but I didn't feeli it from her....

and Thia- beautiful voice, but she's just not star quality.

Unfortunately, I missed Naima's act.  But I thought Casey STUNK.  Sorry, it just wasn't any good, and I've liked Casey quite a lot in other performances.  In my mind, the top 3 performances of last night were Lauren, James, and Haley.  Although I really liked Jacob too.  Agree with your comment about Thia - she's got a lot of growing to do, I think.  Also Pia, who has a technically flawless voice, but I feel like she just sticks to a formula....it's getting boring.

No need to apologize Nina ... I like reading the different opinions and perceptions.  Just goes to show we all see things differently ... and I think that's a wonderful thing.

SPOILER:

Just getting home from another wonderful evening .... have not watched my DVR'd results show yet BUT

I understand that Thia and Naima were voted off ... spot on, I think ...

Thanks for the head-up on the duets, Jann.  I have to take Ginger to the vet for a booster ... I think I'll have time when I return to run through it.  Love DVR !

WOW ... this had to be the best week collectively of the American Idol competition ever !!!  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame week ... tons of song choices so NO excuse to get the song choice wrong.  Right ?

Jacob ... Man In The Mirror to start off the show in a VERY positive way ... but did have to roll my eyeballs that he passed up Let's Get It On because it's not who he is morally (a weak attempt to get more votes, maybe Thia's votes ?  dunno ... but sort of turned me off).  He could be in bottom unless a combined Thia and Naima votes save him.  PS ... at first I thought that was Naima singing backup ... lol.

Haley ... Janis Joplin's Piece of My Heart and she rocked it ... not many (except Melissa Ethridge) can rock a Janis song but Haley owned it, got mad, nailed it and I think it was her best performance yet.

Casey ... CCR's Have You Ever Seen The Rain ?   excellent choice combined with his musician talent ... this is what he should do ... I like a happy Casey instead of performing an angry, crazy Casey.  He is showing the judges that he's earning his save ... two times over now.

Lauren ... Natural Woman ... too big a song for this youngster ... good, but nope compared to the rest ... she should be in danger.

James ... George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps ... I like that he tried to change it up by doing something unexpected in the week that should have been his comfort zone ... and it was good, not my favorite but very good ... he's safe based on his entire body of work so far.

Scotty got to do his Elvis with That's Alright Mama ... loved it !!! ... his place at the top is safe, safe, SAFE !

Pia ... *sigh* Pia ... so many choices and you pick Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High ... NOOOoooooo ... unless you are a power house and can OWN the stage ... please, no Tina Turner ... Pia's voice is probably the best in the competition BUT she's boring ... I wonder if she can shake those hips ?   SHAKE THAT BUTT GIRL !   strut your beautiful stuff, maybe ?   No, okay ... well boring, no passion, no performance what so ever ... she should be in the bottom three.   A beauty pageant performance, at best.

Stefano ... if America gets it right, he is going home ... very poor performance ... his vocals were all over the place.

Paul ... *sigh* ... Johnny Cash's Foulsom Prison Blues ... very solid and fun GREAT performance filled with passion ... he rocked~a~billy'd it and made it his own ... he had the pimp spot ending the show and everyone left rocking and feeling good !

Bottom:  Pia, Lauren and Stefano ... with Stefano in big trouble ... I think.

If it were up to me (and it's not even by a little bit because I never vote), Paul would be gone. I can't stand him ever and I thought his rendition of Johnny Cash was pathetic.

Teri, I'd pretty much agree with you.... Haley was my absolute favorite. Scotty was great and that was one of my favorites by Paul!

Oopsie
... Oh I heard it from some very dear friends when I posted about my feeling that Pia was in trouble and it gives me no pleasure at all knowing I was spot on.

I think Pia is gorgeous, adorable ... with an incredible voice ... but she lacked that certain something (like ability to move).

I thought about it overnight and maybe she was too perfect ?   I think people in America these days appreciate someone with a bit of an edge, someone different ... like Casey or Paul (or Crystal Bowersox from last year).  One thing Casey and Paul have over Pia is they are so darned likeable and entertaining ... could be someone you see at the hole in the wall pub like Knuckleheads in Kansas City and want more.

Pia will have a future ... there's no doubt about that.   And I still feel Stefano should have been voted out rather than Pia this week ... even still her time would have come soon enough.  She's got the summer Idol tour and I'm sure there are lots of agents blowing up her phone.

She absolutely has a future!

I think her mistake was in waiting to long to get out of the "ballad" mode.....

She's gorgeous. She can sing. I see on her on Broadway....
