That is messed up.  You should be able to remain anonymous on any type of social networking site if you chose to do so.

Agreed for giving out your real name could spell 'trouble', particularly for hackers and/or identity thieves. Though in all fairness (not to sound like a hypocrite) I can sorta understand FB's method for weeding out the fakes because quite honestly I feel that one of the things that kinda ruined myspace and the forums over there in particular was due to the fake profiles indeed. Maybe it's just me but after awhile it got to a point where I'd be a little afraid to post on the forums because half the time I didn't even know who was real or who was posing as someone else. And don't let me even get started on the whole 'Ashley' debacle, lol..

True dat, but a girl I worked with was stalked in real life by a guy who "got to know her" on a message forum. He wasn't a poster or anything, but a lurker and he'd 'fallen in love' with her and was pissed off she didn't feel the same way so he tracked her down. Pretty freaky for her dude. You just never know who is going to read what on the internet, and what they are going to do with/about it.
