Oh god, there is a local band here that totally rips off Voivod.  They are okay, but the look is just irritating.  Search Vektor on myspace.  Ugh

So much new metal music is just 64th notes on the double bass pedal with the lead singer singing like a demonic frog.   No killer riffs or fills anymore but really, I hate the demonic frog voice.  I really really hate the demonic frog style singing.

*note:  I'm not hating on all newer bands good or not so good.  You just have to sift through so much demonic frog garbage before you hear something good.

Maybe you are not being efficient enough in your music searching.  It should be pretty easy to find the music you like while weeding out 90% of the crap you dislike.

I think that was sort of my point.  90% of it is crap.  and that 90% has lead singers that sing like a possessed frog.  I don't get what people see in it.  I'm sure it takes some skill but why?  

So let me put it this way.  For those who like that, if there are any, what do you find appealing about those type of vocals?  Why do you think bands feel that they have to have that sort of a front man.  I'm not looking for operatic singing nor do I expect the Danzig (Elvis tenor) voice.  I'm good with singers who belt out good screams.  

I promise, I won't bag on anyone.  I just want to know what people see or better put hear in it.  Cause that is my pet peeve.

The fans for one with their shitty 'scene' haircuts and trendy clothes. Also the ones who 'like' a band or genre because its 'cool', but really they only just listen to it to look good. They probably really cant stand to listen to it. And this whole attitude that "I am more underground than you because I listen to some band that you've never heard of.." annoys the **** out of me, or the 'I'm so metal i **** steel' attitude and then they go and list their metal likes which are some shitty nu-metal bands...
Then there are the bands who have the shitty 'scene' haircuts and wear trendy clothes. Yeah they're the ones who go around thinking they are so br00tal because they are in a metal band, and yet they sound like a modern day Metallica or Slayer...

Also I loathe these things from metal:
*Bullet For My Valentine
*Trivium
*Metal core
*People who go on about Dimebag's death and how he was the most amazing guitarist, and yet they only started listening to Pantera after he died.

Very good point! I see this **** all the time and it usually occurs with dudes who are anywhere between 18 and 25 years of age. These are the same dudes that will claim to have listened to black metal since like '89 and yet ironically they maybe just discovered Beherit like literally yesterday! Further I just hate how some of these dickheads try to remain so old school elitist and therefore protest against ipods, file sharing, etc. because it's not the 'metal' way or whatever when they are the very ones using computers/myspace to find out about new bands in the first place. That's like a grand master of the KKK who secretly sneaks into a Detroit to **** black prostitutes, lol..

Oh, and if I may be so bold to state this I'd like to add that another thing that pisses me off are a lot of the females that are into this music. Now bear in mind, I do realize that there are those lovely ladies that completely envelope themselves in the scene because of the music and ONLY the music so I'm not trying to stereotype here but let's face it there are those 'skanks' you see at shows that dress all provocatively like it's not obvious that there just to show off and lure some long haired dude inside her sugar walls. Further it just pisses me off how a lot of them try to emulate the 'boys' by talking like them where like every fuckin' sentence they fuckin' utter has to fuckin' include the word **** or some other fuckin' cuss word because it's so fuckin' brutal and fuckin' metal to fuckin' talk like a fuckin' metalhead and that's the only fuckin' way to get their fuckin' point across.. know what the **** I am sayin'?!

I dislike how how most people in the metal scene try and 'rebel' by doing it this way and that way and try to think of themselves as original. "Well, I'm not 80's neo-revival-old-school-thrash so I'll be nu-faux-death-core or **** both of those I'll keep it old-school by acting like I was a greasy, stinky teenager in the 90's worshiping Pantera and dressing in camo shorts and wallet chains. Because mentally I am sick of emo and screamo so I am going to act like it's 2001-2003 while trying to be on the cutting edge like it was the summer of 2005 at Ozzfest, but I'll be acting like it's 1983 and HEAVY **** METAL REIGNS SUPREME....but I hate tight jeans, cuz that **** is for fags, I miss baggy jeans. Because I got into Metal through Korn and Nirvana."

Finding your identity is one thing, but getting lost in the mental rat race-like maze of trying to be more "Metal" than the next **** in line isn't going to make your life any better.
