OFFLINE | Really quickly before I leave for class!
This is from a lady on the MCCS MCRD San Diego Facebook Page: "FYI, they will make the initial call, but if they "win" a competition or do something great, they will get to make a phone call, I missed my son's call home and am so sorry for him, that had to be heartbreaking for him. I want to tell you all that this will be a call from the 818 area code, your caller ID will show no name or state calling from. If you get a call from the 818 area code, ANSWER IT"
I just checked back to that posting and someone else posted on Saturday that they did get a call from a 619 number (but she was talking about the first 10 second call) so I don't know, better look out for both just to be safe! :]
Talk to you later! |

OFFLINE | Haha understandably curious! I am as well, I assume though that Steven will call his parents which is totally fine and I definitely understand, I'd probably call my mom too! I told him I would be completely content with a 'shout-out' if he does get to call home lol :]
Oh! And thank you so much for the help finding the video!! I hope our three guys were in it, that would be absolutely fantastic! :]] |

OFFLINE | I surprisingly got a letter today!! Aaron did mention that they had log drill on May 3rd! At least we have a day to go by for the video. He said it was tiresome and now has huge whelps on his shoulders! He also has a bad cough and had to go to medical for that. My poor baby! :/ I feel helpless as hell, but know he's in good hands. |

OFFLINE | Well Brenda I am so glad you got a letter today!!! YAY!!!!! Thank you for that date I will have to see waht I can dig up on it!!!! No letter for me today... I was bummed.....I am sorry that Aaron has welts and has a cough....Gosh I hope it isn't anything too serious!!!!!!!!! I will keep him in my prayers as I already do!!!!! I totaly understand your feeling of helplessness!!!!! THAT PART SUCKS TOO!!!!!!! He might be in good hands, but the thing is they arent YOUR hands!!!! Makes all the differnce in the world to them you know!!! Marquis had pneumonia about a month before he left, almost had his date changed etc.....and let me tell you there is no way he could have handled their medical there with that vs mine......we just have that touch, the comfort, the soothing........Oh shucks Im gunna cry now.........I feel bad that Aaron is sick.......I truly hope he will be ok......as they start swim week this week..........Im going to go and try to find that video.........Love to both of you and hugs.......Hope for letters tomorrow!!!! |

OFFLINE | I just wanted to let you ladies know that you have helped this rough time go by so much faster, I don't know what I would do without our daily theorizing and gossiping! It really is such a nice thing and I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum :]
I hope you two have a fantastic day tomorrow! And Apryl I'll have my fingers crossed you find a letter in your mailbox, and Brenda I'm hoping Aaron has a quick recovery, I'm sure with their help he'll be better in no time :] |

OFFLINE | Amanda, all I can say is that it is my pleasure!!!! I can say the same thing towards you and Brenda as well!!!!! This is a very hard time for everyone involved!!!! Not only for our recruits but for all of us loved ones at home!!! It does hit us just as hard if not harder in a different capacity!!!!!!!! I know as a Mom it is very hard for me to walk by Marquis' room, it is hard not being able to give him a hug, or to actually tell him goodnight and goodmorning...to be there at the end of his hard day.....to offer him support in the form of a hug or an encouraging smile that he can actually see!!!!! Being so close to both of my boys I find it extremely difficult to NOT have the CONVERSATIONS......Forgive me as I am not trying to be negative at all.......I am extrememly positive but there are days that this journey really takes its toll on me.....as strong as I try to be, as determined as I might be to get through this unscathed it is so hard.....I know that both of you are going through the exact same thing...so I do feel so blessed to share this with you both!!! It does make it easier as we have each other to lean on and share all these tidbits of info that our sons and BF's are sharing with us....I am not sure how anyone can go through this ALONE!!!! I don't think I could and that is one reason why I reach out to others......I want to be there for them and help them with this just as much as learningfrom others experience with this.......I will say I couldn't have found 2 better women to share this with and I am definitely looking forward to meeting you both in July!!!! So don't be surprised if I see either of you, I will be running up to both of you and throwing my arms around you!!!!!! I do truly feel that we are now connected for life and I absolutely love that!!!!!! I too pray that Aaron feels better and has no more issues with his cough, I hope you both get wonderful letters today and that you BOTH have a GREAT Tuesday!!! Today is Day 30 of 13 Weeks.....we are kocking em out girls!!!!! Ooorraaahhhhh!!!~ Hang tough plt. 2166!!!~ |

OFFLINE | I agree with both of you ladies about how this forum is helping us cope and get to share this experience together! And Apryl, I know how you feel and it not a negative thing for we are going to have those days. Aaron was still living at home and staying a few over with Meg, but his room is still this room now only empty. It helps Meg too when she comes to visit and stays over, in his room. I'm glad also that I've found you two to chat with. It makes my day. Oh yes, we will definitely have to meet up, give BIG bear hugs, sit by each other in the stands, and hang out!
>Apryl, Aaron also said in his letter yesterday that he and Marquis are tight! They try to keep the recruits in line, lol. He said there are some who talk to much, and get the platoon in trouble. That pisses him off so much!
I pray Aaron is better too and today all of them were successful in the water this week. Also Pugil sticks III!!! Our boys love it!!
Hope you and Amanda enjoy the rest of your evening. I hope you two got letters today, nada for me but hoping for one soon!
Counting the days down, marking them off the calendar...until then.....hanging in there! ~~ Ooh rah!!!! |

OFFLINE | Brenda it's so nice to hear you got a letter! It's probably the most uplifting, amazing stress reliever to see a letter in the mailbox :] I still find it so incredibly amazing that out of everyone who could have found this forum you two got on not even knowing your sons were the best of friends! It's definitely one of those 'movie moments' that people don't think actually happen in real life haha so awesome! And I can't wait to meet you two either! It'll be so nice to actually be able to give the people who've helped me through this a super big hug! I'm probably going to be crying like a baby, I'll need to find some waterproof mascara haha
No letter for me today but I've figured it's usually once a week, either on Saturdays or Mondays but of course I'm still going to check everyday, couldn't hurt just in case :] I've got to head to work but I hope you both are having a great day and I'll ttyl! |

OFFLINE | Amanda I couldn't agree more with you!!! Although it is pretty awesome that Aaron and Marquis were friends prior to Brenda and I talking to one another I find it pretty awesome that you also found us and Steven is with both our guys as well!!! It is pretty awesome when you think about!!! As you a said....a "movie moment" and seeing as there would probably be an abundance of tears and shrieks and laughter and even more crying...probably best as a "Lifetime Movie Moment"........: :..........Waterproof mascara it is!!!! .......I willkeep my fingers crossed that you get a letter Amanda!!! As they do help so much as we have already established!!! Have a great night at work!!! |
