Oh ok, I did call him Marquis in the letter I wrote yesterday but I did include that his last name was Roberson so maybe he'll still know, but I'll correct it in tonights letter. I'm glad to know that the platoon is doing so well! I'm sure it boosts their spirits knowing they scored the highest! It's so nice being able to talk to other people who have family members in the same platoon because I get to find out information that Steven didn't have the time or space to tell me, I'll be sure to wish him good luck on their real drill! :]] I also asked Steven how many guys were in their platoon as I have no clue and it'd be interesting to know if it's a small enough group as to where they can really get to know each other, I hope so!

I agree.....it is wonderful as we can all piece it together through all of our mail!!!!
It is ok that you called him Marquis as that is his middle name and he has gone by that for the past 18 years but he had to go by his legal FIRST name (Brandon) in Boot Camp which he is not liking. And he only has to go by Roberson as that to was his legal last name on his BC .....which he hates......lol so when he gets out of BC he is planning on changing his name legally to have Marquis as his first name and Borba as the only name showing for his last insteadof Roberson-Borba......I know it may seem confusing.....LOL....But we get it here at home.........It is my pleasure to share all of this info with you!!! It helps to all feel as if we are a part of what they are doing!!! I hope for letters for you tomorrow and can't wait to hear what Steven has to say!!!

I can see how that whole name situation would be confusing haha but I understand. I let Steven know in my letter that he will probably go by Brandon so I guess we'll see! I unfortunately did not get anything in the mail today but maybe it just takes longer to get up here? I don't know but I'm trying to stay positive, I know they're very busy so I shouldn't expect one everyday, although it would be nice lol hope you had a fantastic day filled with more letters! :]]

Im sorry no letters came for you today Amanda.....I hope that tomorrow your mailbox is filled with plenty!!!!! With regards to the name, we were actually really pissed that he had to enlist as Brandon Roberson as even his transcripts and HS Diploma had his name as Marquis Borba....every piece of paper aside fro his BC has Maquis Borba on it...and even his birth certificate says "Brandon MARQUIS Roberson-Borba"....so it was a bit of a cluster to have to go and have every single piece of paper, including a revised HS Diploma and transcript sheet put as the name Brandon Roberson......There was nothing wrong with any of that stuff......he has gone by Marquis Borba his whole life but because that was not his given "legal" name in that order on his BC he couldn't go by it.......It was freakin amazing..... But whatever it is all good and as I said when he gets out on leave he is planning on changing his name to the order he wants it with Marquis being his first name instead of his middle name and Borba being the only last name that appears instead of also carrying my maiden last name......whew...did that make any sence???? LOL......

Haha don't worry it made complete sense! It is pretty odd that they wouldn't allow him to go by the name that's on literally everything BUT his birth certificate. Hope you ladies are having a good Friday so far! Unfortunately I'm about to head home for the weekend which is an hour and a half away from my school and my mailbox :/ The mail man usually comes around 1:30 which is in a few minutes but it's also when my ride is coming to pick me up! I hope the mailman gets here very very soon so if I have mail I can take it home with me :] Talk to you soon, hopefully with some news!

No mail today......ok well aside from an envelope that came to my house that was for someone that doesn't even live here.....Grrrrr.......I hope that they had some down time and were able to write to all of us!!! I also hope that they did well in SDI today.......guess we will find out via one of the three of us!!!! I hope you ladies have a wonderful weekend as well!!! It's getting REALLY HOT..... I definitely perfer the happy medium of 80-85 degrees instead of us allready being close to the 90's here.....Uggghhhhh and no breeze and totaly inland so when its hot its HOT!!!!!!! Sorry its so hot there. We luckily have beautiful 80 degrees weather. I'm thinking about my boy, missing him especially today of all days, as I imagine you Apryl, and all other Mothers are too! Yes, lets hope today they get to write a bunch of letters !   After next week we can pretty much see letters come to a crawl as I have heard. Our mail will be 30+ miles away and DI's don't go often to pick our letters up. I hope thats NOT the case, but surely understand why. Good luck next week to Plt. 2166!!!

Grrrrr Brenda......Blastfamy with your 80 degree weather!!!!!!!!!   Oh how I dislike summers here in the valley.......they are horrible.....but I guess that is why MAN invented the Air Conditioner!!!!!!!! ........Brenda I like you find myself thinking about and missing Marquis so very much today!!!!! It is so hard not having here with me on these special days....Ie....Easter, My Birthday..(which was also on Easter) and today of all days ....Mothers Day......I am so blessed to have Timmy here with me but I prefer having both of my boys standing by my side on this day!!!! I cried so hard last night before I went to bed.......I still do that on occassion.....I know that may sound so silly as it has been 4 weeks, 5 weeks starting today.......but I have such a void in my heart right now......Yes I am so filled with PRIDE and Love......but those feelings don't make the other ones any easier........Lets hope that the DI's or whomever delivers the mail to CP will keep it flowing for them and we can at least count on one or two letters a week for the next 3 while they are at CP.......I do love my letters!!! As I know we all do!!! Brenda I hope you have an amazing Mothers Day and know that although Aaron didn't say it I know he is humbled and so blessed to have YOU as his mother!!!!~ Amanda I hope you received your letter wither Saturday or you get one on Monday!!!~ Heres to a Happy Mothers day to one and all and a great weekend and Swim Week for Plt. 2166!!!~ Oorraahh!!~

I felt the same thing last night. As I mentioned on your FB page, I was down, feeling zonked and not wanting to go to work. I was thinking of Aaron and wishing he was here but I know he is where he is suppose to be. Soooo, getting ready for work, I just slipped on one of his T-shirts so I'd feel closer to him. It might sound silly, but it sure did help me get through the night!

Hey ladies! I hope you two are having the best Mother's Day possible considering the circumstances, I'm sure your boys are thinking of you tons :] My roommate up at school informed me that I did get a letter yesterday! BUT it is up at school and I am still in Seattle, I'll just be anxious all day until I head back up to school to get it!
80 degrees sounds perfect! I wish it got hot enough here to need an air conditioner lol we're still using the heater! Although, it is trying its best to be sunny today, definitely a nice treat :]

Amanda thank you so much for the Mothers Day wishes.....Yes it is a hard day today!!! I am so blessed to have my youngest son Timmy (who is 15) here with me today.....But I love sharing days like this more with BOTH of my boys!!!!!! This is one of those days that EVERYTHING makes me CRY!!!!!!!! LOL I am so glad to hear that you got a letter yesterday!!!!!! !! I am completely and utterly elated right now
I just got home to my letter and oh my what a fantastic letter it was! :] He started writing it on May 2nd, wrote on both the front and the back and then said he would continue the letter the next day because he had to go to bed, and the continued letter was another page front and back Besides all the I love you's and I miss you's he said that he's making tons of friends, one of whom is his rack mate, who's a firefighter from Texas (I probably won't hear back about your sons until next weekend.) He says he's still able to crack jokes but he has to keep them on 'major DL' lol also that they get one hour of free time a night and that he's starting to use it more for writing and less for prepping gear for the next day (hopefully this means more letters!) He also said that he's been dead tired because he's on early fire watch plus double PT and 3 classes he had to stay awake for lol I can only imagine what would happen if a recruit fell asleep in class!
Steven also mentioned their dummy grade that your sons have also talked about. He said they did really good and they're in the running for first place, the trophy, and a surprise from their SDI! I've heard from several places that one of those 'surprises' could potentially be a PHONE CALL home so let's keep our fingers crossed that they did well yesterday and if you see a call from an 818 area code, ANSWER IT!!
He also decided it would be a good idea to tease me by saying he has something for me but I won't get it until around my birthday which is June 30th! That seems so far away! And what could he possibly have at boot camp to send me?! Lol trying to figure it out is going to drive me crazy! I shouldn't be surprised though, he would always do that when he was here, I should have known he'd find some way to do it while he was away too haha
Something else that was interesting was that he mentioned he was on TV! He said 8 of them were filmed doing a demo on the log drill and that I should try to find it! So if anyone happens to come across it I would love to know! :]] Also, "the food sucks" and apparently the first thing we're doing when he get's back is going to get some real food haha
Ahh, this completely made my weekend! I hope you both find your mailboxes filled real soon!!

Oh Amanda, you have me excited about your son's fantastic letter!! My fingers are crossed and my phone is on my hip! I hope they won and that would be their surprise! OH MY GOODNESS Amanda you have made my Monday Morning!!!!!!! I am so so so excited and so very happy for you that you had such a wonderful letter waiting for you when you got back home!!!!!~ Doesn't that warm your heart and make all of this so very worth it!!!!!!! I know that probably for the three of us our guys were pretty mature when they left for Boot Camp already, but I have noticed a change in my son through his letters....He is so positive and so grateful and so humbled!!!! He has always been this way but it seems that with Boot Camp it has taken on an even greater meaning to all of them!!!! I absolutely love this!!!!!!!!!!!! A PHONE CALL????????? ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?????????????? Oh my gosh that would be so AWESOME, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, and I just can't think of any other words to say......BUT OH MY would I be one happy Mama as I know you would too Brenda and Amanda you would be one happy GF!!!!!!~ 818 Area Code????? Oh boy I thought it was a 619 Area Code as that is San Diego???????? I am going to have to look and make sure that we all have the right area code so that we FOR SURE know when to pick up!!!! I will also do my best to find this video.....and if I find it I will let you all know and either post the link on here or post it on my FB page......then you both can see it or whatever.....whoever finds it first let us all know!!!!!!!!!!! Also Amanda just so you know Brenda and I were having a discussio yesterday on some photos we found on a different website of all the Platoons practicing Drill......there is for sure a pic of 2166 and a few others that we are not sure about so I took the liberty of copying and pasting them onto a letter for Marquis and asked if they were there Plt or if any of our guys were in them.....We circled who we thought was Aaron and Marquis....but I am not sure what Steven looks like....so HOPEFULLY I will get a responce to that VERY SOON...Im mailing that today!!!!!~ Thank you so much Amanda for sharing about your letter!!!!!!!
