Hello all and welcome the "The World R:2"!

This is a free-form role-playing web-forum based in the .Hack//G.U. series and all anime/manga surrounding it. To make this a better playing experience for all those who join there ARE a few rules. But first some information on "The World" itself:

ABOUT:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
".hack//G.U. takes place in an alternate version of Earth in the year 2017. As depicted in the first .hack game series, the "2nd Network Crisis" was an incident that occurred seven years ago in which many computer systems across Japan malfunctioned. Through the efforts of those games' hero, Kite, the incident resulted in the birth of Aura, the ultimate artificial intelligence (AI), capable of making decisions for itself. Under the guidance of Aura, The World, the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game at the time, flourishes and the events of .hack//Legend of the Twilight occur during this four-year period.

In late 2014, Aura disappears, resulting in the slow decay of The World and the Internet as a whole. In response, the company that administrates The World, CC Corp, sets up "Project G.U." and tasks them with remedying the problem. They come up with the "Restore Aura (RA) Plan", in which they attempt to retrieve the fragments of Morganna—an AI that served as Aura's "mother"—and seal them into player characters (PCs) of The World. In theory, this would allow the Project G.U. programmers to manipulate the Morganna program to recreate Aura. Only certain "chosen" players could control these special "Epitaph PCs".

After locating candidates to operate the Epitaph PCs, the team proceeds to test the RA Plan despite concerns over "anti-existences" that might damage the Internet. The program fails catastrophically and destroys over 80% of the data for The World. Instead of trying to salvage the data, CC Corp develops The World R:2 and releases it to a new generation of players. However, this new game is less popular than its predecessor and becomes plagued by "player killers" (PKs), players who target other players for fun and sport. The Epitaph PCs which had been lost during the RA Plan disaster resurface in the new version, attached to certain players of interest.

The World R:2 (Revision 2) (ザ・ワールド 「リビヅョソ2」, Za Waarudo [Ribijyon2]) is the successor to The World (From the first .Hack game series). In 2015, a fire destroyed most of The World's game data, so CC Corp quickly began work on a replacement. By splicing together the remaining data from The World with another game they were working on, they created R:2. It was released on Christmas Eve, 2015. However, fans of The World disliked the change as they were unable to transfer their character data to The World R:2, and many referred to the launch as "Goddess's Death". Despite this, the game goes on to sell 12 million copies by the time of the events of the G.U. Games, though still failing compared to its predecessor's 20 million copies sold. "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the year 2015, a fire destroyed most of The World's data, and the remains had to be spliced together with another game CC Corp was working on to create The World R:2. This new game has mostly different classes from The World, often now called Jobs.

Adept Rogue - Unlike other classes, its users do not specialize in a single weapon, or form of combat. Instead of practicing in the use of a particular type of weapon, an Adept Rogue acquires several forms through Job Extend, each of which allows him or her to use a different weapon type.

Blade Brandier - A Blade Brandier's damage and hit rate are somewhere in between Twin Blade and Edge Punisher, making it an average class in terms of strength. In regards to speed, the Blade Brandier is not as fast as a Twin Blade or Tribal Grappler, however, they are much faster than heavily armored classes, such as Lord Partizan.

Macabre Dancer - A strange class, they wield fan-like weapons. They cut their enemies with the bladed tips of their fans in a battle form that resembles a dance. The inhabitants of The World consider them the "Flowers of the Battlefield". Macabre Dancers are the expert class for status effects and parameter changes, and are very balanced casters, learning both healing and attack spells. Like Harvest Clerics and Shadow Warlocks, Macabre Dancers gain spells incredibly quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts.

Edge Punisher - Edge Punishers use huge, double-handed Broadswords.Edge Punishers excel in physical attacking, especially against armored foes; however, they are much slower than classes such as the Blade Brandier. Edge Punishers also have higher defense from the heavy armors they can equip.

Flick Reaper - are a class that wields giant scythes. Similar to the Heavy Axemen from The World, Flick Reapers use large weapons such as Axes and Scythes to attack with. Flick Reapers are very weak to long range attacks. They're the medium range, "area attack" class. They "flick" multiple enemies and push them away before they can get close enough for melee attacks, but a good Steam Gunner or Lord Partizan could overpower them by attacking from afar.

Harvest Cleric - are sometimes called "Clerics" for short. Their favored weapons are staves, which give bonuses to their magic and elemental stats, and can be used in melee combat, being considerably physicially stronger by level than grimoires but weaker than any other type of weapon. In exchange, Harvest Cleric staves give a much lower magic bonus than Shadow Warlock grimoires, though the elemental bonuses are around the same. Like bayonets, neither staves nor grimoires have special types (i.e. "Hold and Release", "Rapid Attacks") for melee combat. Like Macabre Dancers and Shadow Warlocks, Harvest Clerics learn spells incredibly fast, at a rate of almost 1 per job level, but learn no arts.

Lord Partizan - have good medium range attacks, but don't excel at "sweeping" attacks like Flick Reapers. Their defense and physical attack stats are very high, with magical attack being their only real weakness. They're also more monster-oriented, with a lot of good armor-piercing and anti-air weapons and skills. Their skill progression for low levels is also among the lowest. Overall, this class can cause the most immediate damage. ]

Shadow Warlock - Their favored weapons are Grimoires, which give bonuses to their magic and elemental stats, and can be used in melee combat, although with very little effect. Shadow Warlock tomes give a much higher magic bonus and have a much lower physical attack than Harvest Cleric staves, though the elemental bonuses are around the same. Like bayonets, neither staves nor grimoires have special types (i.e. "Rapid Attacks", "Hold and Release") for melee combat. Like Macabre Dancers and Harvest Clerics, Shadow Warlocks gain spells very quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts.

Steam Gunner - use steam-powered bayonets developed by humans to attack. Steam Gunners are the physical equivalent of Shadow Warlocks. Their shots are skills that operate exactly the same way spells do, but deal physical damage instead. Steam Gunners' shots have greater range than any other physical hit, and their physical attack stat has the fastest progression of any class (as of Rebirth). In exchange, their melee hits take the same penalty as those of the other "caster" classes in R:2 in that they lack any of the special types (i.e. "rapid attacks", "hold and release") that most classes have access to.

Tribal Grappler - has the advantage of a very high attack speed, allowing it to achieve normal Rengeki extremely fast, in addition to very high HP. Their defense, however, is very low. They also have a very limited repertoire of arts, having only 2 skills available as of Rebirth.

Twin Blade - extremely versatile, with more weapon types and subtypes than any other class. Their attacks are somewhat weak, but quick and easy to combo. Twin Blades have high agility and attack with two short swords. Their rapid attacks leave no opening for an opponent to counterattack.

(For more information on which class you choose please Locate the job name on http://dothack.wikia.com/wiki/.hack//Wiki. Or if you wish to played a "hacked character" you're allowed to devise a job class unique to your own desires.)

BATTLE AREAS

Fields- Fields are one of the three types of areas in The World R:2 (along with dungeons and lost grounds). All fields are of one basic scenery type, but vary in weather. Each field has a corresponding mission, sometimes a quest, which usually consists of either unlocking and entering the underground treasure room or defeating a boss. Monsters are scattered across the fields, and there is usually also a Mecha Grunty and Lucky Animal on each. There are also occasionally Unlucky Animals, and idle players may find themselves attacked by a Doppelganger. There are some fields with rivers or ravines that can only be crossed via Warp Point. PvP battles are also not uncommon on fields, particularly in areas that end with the word "Berserker".

The Lost Grounds - special areas within The World that have existed since Fragment. Lost Grounds seem to be synonymous with Sacred Zones, areas based on the story of the Epitaph of the Twilight. They may or may not be related to the Legendary Lands, areas related to the story of The World. One of the Lost Grounds, The Creator's Room, is also known to be one of Harald's Rooms. The Japanese festival-themed area Δ Hidden Forbidden Festival matches the "Hidden Forbidden" naming pattern most Lost Grounds share, but it is unknown if this area is also a Lost Ground. Piros the 3rd hypothetically cites that a certain graphics designer designed some, if not all of the lost grounds as his reason to protect their graphics from Tri-Edge's signs.

Dungeons - a separate type of area from fields, which players can enter directly from a Chaos Gate. For many dungeons the goal is to reach the Beast Statue or defeat a boss, though various quests may require other conditions to be met. There are four known types of dungeons in The World R:2, they include: Caves, Shrines, Towers, & Forests.

SERVERS AND ROOT TOWNS

A Server is a computer system that is accessed by other computers. In The World all Dungeons, fields, Monsters, and treasure, namely every part of the game is stored on one of the games servers. At the center of each server is a Root Town, where players gather to form parties, buy, sell, and trade items, raise Grunties, and do pretty much everything that doesn't involve fields or dungeons. Fields and other servers can be accessed from the root town through the use of the Chaos Gate, usually located in a central location of the town, by using a combination of key words.

Δ Delta Server, with Root Town Mac Anu
Θ Theta Server, with Root Town Dol Dona
Ω Omega Server, with Root Town Lumina Cloth
Σ Sigma Server, with Root Town Breg Epona
