OFFLINE | Keeping busy is key here. With 2 girls and a jam packed summer, we're trying to focus on one day at a time.....following the phases seems to help encapsulate the time into frames they can understand. |

OFFLINE | The phases help me keep things in perspective too. They line up nicely with different big events in my life (my birthday, finishing myinternship) so it makes those weekends way more exciting |

OFFLINE | You know, I never thought getting the mail would ever be so exciting or so disappointing. It always used to be "oh, mail's here", and now I practically fly to the mailbox every day. When there's not letters it seems like the day is so much longer - but every day brings new surprises!
Can't wait til I don't need the mailbox because he's standing next to me. |

OFFLINE | Isn't it absolutely wonderful that we are nearly halfway through! For me, as I am sure it is for everyone, this time has had it's ups and downs. Most of the time it feels like just yesterday that my boyfriend has left, but it also feels like I haven't seen him in at least a year! I find that keeping busy and not focusing on how much I miss him makes the time go by a lot faster! When I do have a bad day, focusing on all of the good and positive things brightens everything up as well!
One of my best friends gave me this advice that has also helped me: She told me that through this time that we are apart, I should try to focus on myself (I know that sounds a little conceited) But by focusing on myself she means that I should restart old hobbies that I enjoyed: scrap booking, painting, running, ect. Also, this time is wonderful for me to learn how to lean on all of the other loved ones in my life for help and moral support and re-connect with long-lost friends.
The way I see it is that our men are learning new things about themselves and pushing themselves their hardest every single day to become better; so why shouldn't we? |

OFFLINE | I know It definetly made leaving home for the summer a little easier of a decision, I didn't have the boyfriend there to "miss". Haha, Lordy, do I wish he was at home to "miss" now.
I had a super cute idea though for scrapbooking! I'm taking all the pictures I find of him this summer and putting them together with pictures of me from the summer for our anniversary in November. Some couples have pictures of all the time they spend together...ours is time apart. Oh Army life! |

OFFLINE | To add to what Rachel said, I agree about the focusing on yourself thing. It keeps me busy getting all the little things done that I've been putting off, and I like having time to write again. It's even given me time to pick up a few things- I'm learning American Sign Language right now! I know some people might see it as selfish, but really, it's the only way to keep from going crazy And then I have something cool to surprise him with; "Look honey, new skills!".
And Stephanie, that is a REALLY cute idea! What an awesome way to share your lives even when you aren't always together. Kudos to you! |

OFFLINE | There's two Stephanies...I was confused at first till I realized you weren't talking about yourself!
I don't think there's anything selfish about focusing on yourself! It's the only way to not go crazy. That's the advice that all my military friends have given me...stay REALLY busy. Time flies when you're having FUN!

OFFLINE | Yeah, I'd have to agree with Rachel about focusing on yourself. It's really the only thing that keeps me sane while my boyfriend is gone! He's #422. What's hard is, we have been together for over 5 years now. And were good friends for 3 years before we even started dating. He really is my best friend, along with boyfriend. We lived together too, so that's an adjustment in itself. Letters are definitely what make my day, and of course when I don't get one it is disappointing. I know he writes as much as he can, so I try not to get too upset about it and keep letters coming his way because I know they need them! |
