OFFLINE | I worked in a shop that went union. We asked for a recount and was told it was not possible because the ballots had been destroyed as required under union rules. The company had the highest pay in the area and was self insured where we had a $10 co-pay for doctor office and preventive dental. $50 co-pay for hospital stay and more extensive dental care, $250 a calendar year towards eye exam and glasses/contacts, free prescriptions. After the union came in the first thing they did was call for a strike for better pay and benefits. Everyone including those who wanted the union was saying WTF to that.
I heard one Illinois Representative say that it was his goal to get every worker the pay and benefits, that is their civil right, by helping the unions get into all businesses across the Nation. Pay and benefits a civil right? Politicians who take the side of the unions and their bosses (which represent something less than 20% of the workers in America most of which are public sector employees) as if the union employees are the only ones who work, should be investigated for possible collusion in trying to bring down private enterprise and the economy. |

OFFLINE | Unions have done far more damage to our country than have helped workers. Look at all those manufacturers that were here in the mid-west, there gone almost all of them are gone. I just noted yesterday as I was looking at a 1977 pay stub making $2.50 an hour while I watched union labor making 14-18 dollars an hour, along with having such great retirement benefits. There are a few around today but most are public workers like teachers, firemen, policemen, and MDOT workers, lets not forget the UAW wich in its self is a travesty to the USA. I just talked to a friend on Saturday that retired in December as he had his time in, he's 51. I asked him what has he been doing and he said he's got another job as he is too young to retire a job with the private sector.
If you have noticed with the Obama Stimulus most all of the stimulus went to Union Labor. Unions were very big in supporting $$$$ the president and he stands by them. George Soros who has also been a big supporter $$$$ of Obama and Democrats said he has lost his agenda to the republicans. More or less he told Obama to get with the program. We need leaders in this country, like some of the new Maverick Governors. How far will they get? Hopefully they can help set this country back on its feet, but union labor doesn't want any part of it. |
