One Stephen Sparks posted the following quote on the PIS wall: “Not everyone would agree with me, but I think semiotics is the only form philosophy can take in the present century.” -Umberto Eco

When challenged to state his own perspective, Stephen states: "I would say semiotics is the only form philosophy can «properly» take as regards its foundations. As the work of philosopher and founder of semiotics Charles Sanders Peirce comes more and more to light, and as the semiotic contributions of Locke, Berkeley and especially John Poinsot are also brought to the fore, we will see a restructuring of the notion of reality as semiotic web, a reframing of perennial debates between realism and idealism, and a retrieval of ideas and thinkers often neglected in the history of philosophy (Poinsot is but one among many, though by far the most important)."

Anyone care to confirm or challenge this perspective?
