Out of all the point and shoot cameras I have owned, my Canon Elf sd1100is was my favorite...pictures were awesome (especially for sunsets and crystal clear drive by's)!!! I swear by Canon...never liked Nikon (p&s). When I got sand in it I decided to buy another P&S since I always like to carry a camera everywhere...I bought the canonpowershot sx210is (mainly because of 14x optical zoom, 14mp, and high iso) but to me, the pics don't even compare to the elph.
As far as DSLRs... I started with the rebel xt (which I am now selling- great camera but outgrew it) - then I got the Canon T1i (which I LOVE!!! and highly recommend!) and finally the Canon 7D (which I am still learning all it has to offer)- I have an assortment of lenses but my favorite so far is the ultra wide angle canon zoom 18-22.
Just to note...unless you are planning to make poster size prints, a high megapixel is not necessary- an 8mp is highly efficient for quality photos. I even choose to turn down my 18mp cause it takes too much space.

We looked around, did some compares, read reviews and I've decided to order the Canon PowerShot SX210IS 14.1 MP.  Stay tuned ...

I missed this entire page before!!!!
Teri...I have that camera (sx210)....I urge you to get an ELPH instead....the sx210 is more expensive (I paid well over $300 when it came out) and the quality is not worth it! I do a lot of drive by's....my elph came out as clear as the picture posted earlier (great shot, btw!) and the sx210 is HORRIBLE in motion!!! And the retractable flash is a pain in the as$...they put it right where your finger lay

In this area, latest is better than best. I buy the latest under for $100 if there's a feature that I want. A button-sized spy cam, for example.
One of these days I will try to fit a cheap digital to my expensive, old-school (Canon A1) glass.

Hey Judi ... I got the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 12.1MP Digital Camera with 18x POWER Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD.  Unfortnately, I've had so much daughter drama and other commitments, I've not had opportunity to take it for a test drive.  I am hoping things calm down this afternoon and I can take her out tomorrow.  I'll let you know ... HUGS

Teri....I don't think you'll be disappointed AT ALL with your Panasonic Lumix camera.....I LOVE mine...actually bought my daughter one for her upcoming trip to Costa Rica this summer (so she'll have some time to try it out...and get used to it before she leaves).  I got her the Panasonic Lumix FH22 -- has a nice touch screen..and I really think once she gets used to it...she'll LOVE IT   Can't wait to see some of your pictures

I have to something I can keep in a pocket otherwise I lose it or get annoyed without it hanging around all the time - I use the Pentax Optio E85 12.1 mp - let's me choose the amount of pixels, usb's to pc and even I can mange the odd half-decent snapshot.

My son who is into more atistic stuff has some fancy Nikon thing, but I do envy the little self-take remote that comes with it. ( only because I have hundreds of shots, but hardly any with me in :-(

Christian...you should check on your camera....most digital cameras have a self-timer feature.....mine does.  I just set it on a table/shelf or somewhere...hit the timer..and you have about 10 seconds until the shot gets taken.  Plenty of time to run and get into a picture   Good luck to you finding it.....but I know I found mine by accident..and surely am GLAD that I did
