I wonder if Mrs. Cripps is somewhat jealous of Iris - all the mail she sees, the stories that come across her desk. She just might even be jealous of the power that these stories create when someone knows before anyone else, and first hand at that. Early in the story, but near the end of ch.4 - Frankie learns to "Code" her stories to get them past those with the ability to sensor her stories across the oceans. I think she is going to get better about these "codes" and I think it will give her stories edge, depth, and life. "Under a Bomber's Full Moon" (p55)
