Chapter 8:
Emma has had a tough life - she's lost her parents. She's never really had that family unit known in this era. Now she is being "watched" and "spoken about" by the community for what her husband, the doctor, did - or didn't do... Now she will loose her husband for the agony of loosing Maggie. I was so upset that he was in my opinion, running from what happened and leaving his wife this way. I didn't feel that Will was taking responsibility, I didn't feel his wanting to go to war was courageous, legitimate, or honorable. I felt it was his way of tucking tail and running. I was very mad about this and really felt for Emma. She was left to deal with this town of "back talkers" and "pointers".
