what do you guys make of this whole national revolt against the choice flyers are being forced to make, between having what amounts to naked pictures of you, which we know they do save, and having your junk touched? if only we would profile (not just racially) and target most of our attention on those who may set off some red flags, instead of making this a mandatory trauma...

Yeah they have them at some airports over here too. I don't know how in focus the image is over on your side but here it's very blurry. Which raises questions about it's effectiveness and wether it's just another example of our leaders eroding away our rights to privacy in one form or another.

Isn't just the passengers who are revolting, is the pilots as well:

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/7321925-revolt-against-tsa-pilots-urge-people-to-protest-against-full-body-scan

well, to quite a countryman of yours, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety" - am not saying "if you let the government take nudie pictures of you or feel you up, then the terrorists win", but everything the US government has done to "protect" air travel since 9/11 has been reactive rather than proactive - is like the old saying that armies train to fight the last war.  And all of this has cost billions, for protecting you against specific things that Al Quaeda has tried before. And to get around this billions of dollars of security, all they have to do is change tactics slightly, don't use liquid explosives for example (how much time and effort and money has been put into fighting the "war on moisture" Did it help to stop the underpants bomber last xmas?).

I wouldn't go totally with the "racial profiling" idea as in "stop every arab looking guy", but what would be more useful would be the way the israelis do it - it has some element of racial profiling in it, but is more behavioral profiling -  if a guy looks especially nervous when a guard starts asking simple questions about his flight, them maybe pay him a bit more attention.

i agree with pretty much everything that's been said. but here's the question. does it stop at airports, or can they get away with the same thing at bus, and subway stations as well?

Ya know... I betcha i people were getting searched by the Hooter's Girls, there'd be a lot less complaint.  In fact, they could probably charge!

Get scanned for free.

Or...

Get body searched for $20 bucks.

Our nation would be out of debt in no time  Lol!

Well the thing is, patdowns aren't that bad. I just went to a concert last weekend and received a patdown. The guy gave the bells a jingle.
I don't care about doing either, really. If it keeps my plane from hitting ground, rather than landing at my next vacation destination, I don't mind it.

I can see that people don't like the invasion of privacy, but, there is a greater good issue. It sucks that we have to deal with extremists. Keep in mind.. There are extremists in everything, every religion, and every race. So, you can't really profile who is going to be the crazy person taking down a plane.

We must abide until we find a better way. In my humble opinion of course.

I'm serious though bout the girls.  I guarantee,if the agents patting down passengers were beautiful women...the only peole complaining would be other wives, girlfriends or the PC crowd.  Heck, I'd get back in line for another go.  Lol!

HAHAHAHAHAHA
No. I  didn't enjoy it, but at the same time, it didn't bother me.
I can see that it may bother people with privacy issues.
It wasn't too invasive though, I suppose that if someone came away with a brown pinky I'd feel violated.

I dont fly anymore so it really doesnt bother me.  But right now profiling is probably a better alternative.  People are just going to have to give up their PC views on some things.

it's just that if everyone is punished like this, didn't the terrorists kind of win? and the terrorists have already moved on to different techniques anyway. the TSA is trying to prevent the LAST attack. now they're talking about sewing bombs into peoples'  bodies. so why do this so in artfully, and cumbersomely?

I don't think that they worry enough about other forms of transportation...such as buses and trains.  I am guessing that the next thing that the terrorists hit will be one of those.  As far as the full body scans go....if people are going to be that freaked out over something that will make them safe then perhaps they shouldn't be flying.  I would rather know that I'm safe getting on the plane so if I have to go through one of those scans I will.  Remember, it started with everyone taking off their shoes...at least they don't ask us to take off our clothes!
