Hi,

Is anyone able or willing to fly from Manchester to Beijing on August 8th? I see there are a few of us who are able to do so. So apparently there are group discounts avaliable for flights. Does anyone have more information on this? If a group of us are able to fly together from Manc that'd be great.

Thanks,

Kay

I'll throw my hat into that ring. in terms of prices though I dont expect to be paying more than £600 as there are plenty of places that offer cheaper prices than that. Also I'm clueless as to what I'm do to after I land in Beijing

Also Brian, phil said once we have our flight details we send all the stuff to leon and she arranges airport pick-ups etc etc.

Hi Jo,

I'll be looking to fly from London on the 8th August too. All of the flights look around the £700-£800 mark at the moment. I think I heard someone talking about some sort of insurance that let's you change the return date of your return flight because airlines aren't offering anything for July/August 2012 yet. Is there any truth in this?

Hi Brian,

Me and Kay had a quick look today and were quoted £552 from Manchester - Beijing (with Qatar Airways) from the Economy Travels company. We said we'd fly August 8th and "return" in Feb. We asked about changing the return date, cost at £135. But all priced up, it seems much cheaper than those flights that are £700+ (and not including the changing fee). I'm sure we could probably get the cost down though.

What do you think?

Hey Matt,

good effort on the search. thats a very good price and one that I'm happy to go with. I'm not on a super tight budget or anything, it just makes sense not pay more than you need to. I'm concerned about the arrangements we need to make to get to our placements after training, how much it'll cost, and how it will be done.
In any case, I'll join yourself and Kay and anybody else who wants to get in on this if y'all happy with that.

Yep we're happy with that! Someone said on the group that our transfer from the training to the school is covered already. But worth a double check! I don't have the phone number for the company but Kay does as she spoke to them today for a quote. Best get in touch with her for the number.

Forgot to say as well - we haven't heard from the school yet so won't book until we've definitely signed a contract.

Hi Chris,
I think you just book a flight for the latest date available- so probably end of may and then once your there you can just pay a small fee, usually about £50 to change it....that's what i've done before anyway, not sure about any insurance thing though!
Looks like 700-800 is the price- i'm going with my friend rachael hodson so let us know when you've decided what flight your thinking of/found any better deals!!

I would get in on the Manchester flight also, as im currently in Leeds and seems like the most logical place to go, but like Rosie I won’t book till I know I’ve passed this test, visa is in place etc etc and there is no doubt in my mind that everything is in place to go.

Yeah, no booking flights until we have recieved confirmation of our school. I had a look again at flights from Manc- Beijing, prices seem to be £10-£15 cheaper- £535. Nonetheless, flight prices are always changing so it's luck of the draw really!

Hello!
That might be be you heard say that. With STA the flight is £780 from London to Beijing  but for £35 you can change the date or for £49 you can change the date up to three times.
I'm looking to fly from London and so far this has been the cheapest I've found although if anyone finds a better deal please let me know!
