The captain did not specify...

Captain! please clarify.

Let's for now say: our own. Then she'll clarify.

(yay, thought that was good enough to have been published—hence the uncertainty.)

*shares*

None of my items are checked off and it’s nearly noon

Sugar stains on the carpet are mating
and soon they’ll be climbing the walls
folding over me while the popcorn
ceiling pelts me with late notices.

My toenails, they should be painted.
They’re like the bark
of a tree.  They are disruptive,
but at the ends of me,
so matter little.

Henry tells me a dirty home
cultivates, but even
Anaïs in oxford greys
cannot braid through

my doorway with her hands
down she could not crawl.
So I’ll rummage

upside down through
kudzu, toward loophole retreats.
I’ll hide dinner dishes under blankets
of oversized coffee cups in the sink
while the smell of garlic gives
me away.

Not sure whether to shove some stuff in here or not; all my poems are only done for the MySpaz challenges, so everyone's read them already...

~French Fries and Mayo~

Poised under thunder studded sky, we cling to the ocean's iron boundary,
Drenched in a deluge of nature's tears, hurled with pinpoint accuracy,
And the stinging slap of sea-spray as another white stallion rears for freedom.

Great grey waves crash to a nonchalant shore amidst our silent screams at seagulls,
As the wind whips words away from our salt-tinged tongues, leaving us breathless,
Facing, embracing our fate as we revel in the epitome of exhilaration.

A flickering flash of silver erupts from the heavens, highlighting the horizon;
We turn as one to re-run the rugged boardwalk, feet slip-sliding and fingers entwined,
Identical smiles of undiluted delight, despite our masks of precipitation.

Thunderstuck, awed, we stumble through the door, awash in a haze of happiness;
Soaked to the bone but holding love's fire in our hearts, we toast our future
With sparkling glasses of iced Cristal and french fries dipped in mayonnaise.

The only good poems I have ever written were written for those challenges, I struggle with the short story challenges but I'm getting better.

You can vote on the Photo challenge thread too Shanna, I finally won one of those.
It's been tough with myspaz spazzing but is getting better.

Maureen--just voted, hope it helped

@ Emily, loved it...i've believed for some time that i was the only american (or at least Georgian) that ate mayo w/ my fries, until I molded my youngest son to believe it was normal.  ketchup makes me gag.  loved it.  what's Cristal?

I like ketchup and/or mayo with my fries, but I'm really fussy over the brands, lol. Heinz for ketchup, Hellmann's for mayonnaise, or gtfo
Cristal is a champagne. There's just something about the contrast between high-end bubbly and fries that works... imho anyway!

dismantled

in the shadows of the midday sun
on the pale parched earth

six legged soldiers begin to dismantle
their winter feast.

feather by feather
they begin to claim every piece

marching in single file
from here with this to there with that

hurrying before the first
snowflakes fall

just outta sight,
just beneath the hedge row

Ancient tides
the moon will rise
I slip out past
the stars

In my sights
Venus looms there goddess like
and Mercury's all wrapped in
toxic jealousy

Further still I make my way to my lover,
my lover the arrogant sun
my skin blisters,
it burns
