The word “Expedition” is described as “A journey or a voyage for a purpose”. This Expedition purpose is the distributing of writing stationery & creating the awareness of conditions at rural schools, orphanages & missions along the proposed route, combined with discovery and adventure.

A date is set and the long road awaits myself and “CHUMMER” (the Expedition vehicle).

Whilst I prepare and secure sponsors, I bring stories to the public of what I find and experience along the way. The intention is to mark GPS points at various stops and the strong hope is that fellow travellers will follow the route and donate stationery, so to make the supply consistent.

The Expedition is to depart from Cape Town 1st September 2011, and will journey into 10 countries in total. Whilst en route I will be undertaking visits to Ministers of Education in each country requiring them to acknowledge the Expedition and its goals.

Another task is to undertake as many interviews as possible, creating the exposure the “Little voices in Africa” so badly need.

Africa travel is quite complex, with many an issue to overcome. When plotting a route months or a year ahead, one has to take into consideration the reality that all may not go to plan in terms of border closures due to possible terrorist threats, coup de tats, famine, disease & inclement weather conditions. Other hurdles could be vehicle breakdowns, ill health & possible corruption? An old expression is to “Expect the Unexpected”

The best you can do is remain focused, determined and enjoy all that Africa throws at us, and mark it down to experience.
