 OFFLINE | so republicans say they want to bring spending levels back down to 2008 levels, but 2008 spending levels still put us $407 billion in the red. that's kind of like being on a sinking boat, and instead of plugging the hole, just making the hole a little smaller. the boat is still going under, just not as fast.

 OFFLINE | Why not? You have to start somewhere.... and unfortunately I don't think the government officials have the balls to do the cuts necessary and the public won't accept the cuts. We want it all.... no one seems willing to give up anything. |

 OFFLINE | i just want to know how much we could save if we stopped subsidizing everything under the sun, not just in our country, but around the world. and i think the the notion that we have to cut basic services in order to shrink the budget, is a misnomer. just cut out the bureaucracy first, and see where that gets us. there is so much redundancy built into the government. |
