alot of people call it reengage their r no reffs and stuff and less rules this can end up bad. not alot of people crono their markers or they do but want them as high as they can go. max fps on a marker should go is 280 feet per sec some people crank them up to 300 to 340 fps this can break goggles cuz goggles r rated at 400 fps. and their alot more i dont like about it.

Sounds like you had a bad experience.  They are a few groups that don't have their heads on straight that do it but not all.  I have played Renegade for years, and I can tell you that sure, we did not have refs, but we never needed them.  All our players played with honor, if they got shot they called it, we are out to have fun and that's all.  Chronographs are cheap, we all had properly chronographed markers.

Renegade play can be fun and far less expensive than going to an actual field but if you would like to try renegade, there are 3 things to look for.  If they don't have those 3 things, don't even bother playing with the.  1.  Designated Safety Area enclosed or somehow protected from paintballs with all markers when not on the field required to have barrel socks on.  2.  Strict enforcement of masks on when not in designated safety area.  3.  All markers chronographed to 280FPS or less, 250FPS or less is area is CQB.

Its those kind of players that give the sport a bad name.  The worst part of it is that a new player could play with them and get injured.  Not caring about safety is them being irresponsible.  I would suggest if you don't do so already to steer players away from them as they are future Darwin Nominees.

Word Steven, I agree. Rec is a great way to play with regard to the honor system. Out where I play, about 95% of everyone that shows up plays with honor, calls out, shoots correct fps, etc. With respect for everyone. We do however get the occasional a-hole that no one gets along with and overshoots, and wipes like its going out of style. Considering most of the people I play with have more than one marker, we usually will switch to speedball style play when we get those types on our field, and they can get a taste of their own medicine. With no wiping from us (I should hope). The way I view wiping is that you don't learn anything from it, you don't stop and think "what was I doing that got me shot?" You don't ever think to improve your gameplay based on maybe always getting shot in the mask, so you learn to conceal your mask more. Wipers will never play better or with more skill than a player that continually practices the honor system in my opinion.

We don't get many wipers at our field and our field has not had to have refs for years and won't for years to come due to the quality of players that come to our games.  We get teams from out of state that will come to our field for just a day of play.

If you are going to wipe at our field, you will be shot till you call it and odds are, you will be shot by both the opposing team and your own team (not really but you won't be allowed to come back)

If markers are believed to be shooting hot, everyone re-chrono's in front of the field owner, as I recall, we have only had that happen once in the last few years.

I have never played renegade paintball (at least I don't think I have), I have played woodsball before and very little speedball. I live in Massachusetts and would love to be able to get a bunch of guys together to play, but, there are no woods in my area that we can play without getting into trouble of some kind with the law.
