really, what exactly does it tell you that virtually all of the nations of the west have racked up huge, near insurmountable amount of debt, and that all these countries are now having to massively scale back on their spending? particularly when all of these nations' governments have been trending more and more toward large government socialism?

Tells me that we cannot help or save everybody. Only the individual can do that. Life is not fair so to try and make it so will bankrupt you.

Social justice/equality is only a good idea until you run out of other people's money.
