 OFFLINE | John Hancock
Whaddya think of this 'Moo Do': "Throughout his life and even after his death some trademark infringers and trademark counterfeiters have essentially engaged in identity theft by using the Moo Duk Kwan's public identity as their own and have played on its well established reputation in a dishonest manner calculated for their benefit." Statement is part of the USMDKSBD Fed's official submission to wikipedia. Kinda libelous isn't it? I mean...it is stating that everyone who has ever used the Fist and Laurel Leaf logo has done so willfully to commit fraud for profit. Think about that one for a minute. Yeeeeaaaahhhh....that was a real expression of Hwang Kee's philosophy now wasn't it?!

Samuel Jefferson Frazier III the MDK was not only used with permission but encouraged. they ttied yo Trade Mark Tang Soo Do but failed so after that they TM Moo Duk Kwan Which means Martial Arts Virtue. Then they go about saying others are NOW using it unlawfully. Many masters are distancing themselves from Moo Duk Kwan and sadly also distancing themselves from GM Kee. In my personal opinion the current attacks have done much to destroy the brotherhood of Tang Soo Do. Actually, there were at least 5 independent contemporary organizations to GM Kee. i have a book coming out on the subject.

Gino Melanie I was under the impression that Grand Master Kang Uk Lee (highest ranking student of the Founder still alive and teaching), Chief instructor of Central Moo Duk Kwan in Korea and Director of the Korean Soo Bahk Do from 1964 was the only only allowed to use the Moo Duk Kwan. I belive that he had the copyright when he split with the Founder due to the Founder's lower ranking son taking over in Korea.

John Hancock "Grand Master Kang Uk Lee (highest ranking student of the Founder still alive and teaching), Chief instructor of Central Moo Duk Kwan in Korea and Director of the Korean Soo Bahk Do from 1964". Whao. Whole lot of embellishment going on there...but you are correct on one point...Master Lee does hold the registration of the name Moo Duk Kwan and it symbol in England. I have no idea how H.C. Hwang intends to handle that one.

Samuel Jefferson Frazier III Gino, can you share more information on that point? Also, which country was the copyright? In this country would be a trademark

Gino Melanie John thanks for the link, again I'm just repeating what I was told at the time of the split and that was the reason for the split because GM Lee was at the time the highest ranking and "should" have suceeded GM Hwang Kee. Maybe GM Hee Suk Choi had already left?? What is his Dan Bon? I can only find details on "Choi Wui Suk"
