It's truly frustrating to only have 200 words to type for a post.  I couldn't even say what I wanted to in the current event question because there wasn't enough room.  I didn't want to post a second time in case that disqualified me, so I had to make it ridiculously short.
Please make the character limit longer.

I agree it should be changed, especially since its the site that will only run the events. But for now, you could make two (+) posts.

For example:

(No1) blah blah blah blah....blah!

(No1 P2) blah, blah blah? BLAH BLAH BLAH!

I feel your pain, but also understand it's so they have time to read through all of them without having to spend a long time reading just a single one...
