Users must like this page to view the forum doesn't work

"Users must like this page to view the forum" unchecks itself. I want users to be able to view it if the page is liked, but only if the page is liked. I don't want to approve members. I want them to be able to add themselves. This feature does do that right? I need to protect my users' privacy, but give them the freedom to post. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated
