OFFLINE | Urban farming is efficiently utilizing the spaces available in an urban setting to produce food. Farming technique such as hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics have shown to be efficient with greater yield than traditional farming and utilizing minimal space requiring no soil. We should consider these methods when we decide to grow our food.
Another type of urban farming is your backyard or victory garden; if you are already growing produce and fruit on your property, then you are already practicing urban farming. I often hear people letting the yield of their harvest go to waste because they couldn't consume or give away all the food they grown fast enough. Imagine if we put all the backyards in our community together we would have one big farm.
Please contribute your thoughts on the viability of these two points, its pros and cons... |
