OFFLINE | OK, from what I've found out in the meantime it isn't...
I'm really annoyed - got my device yesterday. Firmware update worked out fine, looking at "My Device - Manage device data - My Map" lets me find out that I would have the option to activate one region from the HD ma data DVD which I did not get with my package - what the f*?+!
The basic map data just won't do.
I considered just to buy the HD content - finding out that it is available preinstalled only on an SD card. Why not offering it as a download in regions? Or as one bigger download requiring me to purchase an SD card on which I could it install it myself?
Would be nice to hear something official here - right now I am really considering to just send it back and get a Garmin. More expensive at the first glance, but from what I understand on such a device I could load an OSM tile myself... |

 OFFLINE | Hi, Andreas,
In order to optimize the map engine, performance, and size, we have transformed the OSM maps into our own format. In the near future, we will provide a converting tool which helps you to convert OSM into our format. Meanwhile, please use our basemap DVD which comes with the package.
Regarding HD content, considering the file size is too big to download from internet, we install the HD maps in SD card for our customers. When you purchase the SD card with HD maps, you will have the maps activated to the most detailed level and ready to go.
I apologize if there has been some confusion when you purchased. If anything else we can help to explain, please let us know. Thank you and have a good day!

 OFFLINE | Hi,
thanks for the quick and promising answer. If that came through at some point that would be very nice. Really like my little companion - having to spend some more money and not being able to get it right away is really annoying though.
BTW: some computer makers are starting to deploy their OS through the internet ;-D , so why not offering smaller regions through the web?
If this would divert you guys too much please stick with developing the conversion you were mentioning ;-)
Greeting from Switzerland,
Andy |

 OFFLINE | Hi, Andy,
Thanks for the reply! Yes, we do have a plan of the conversion tool. But of course, any good suggestions are always welcome! Thank you for the support and patience! |

OFFLINE | A time frame for the convertion tool can be helpfull.
Now lot of users are comparing a Bryton vs Garmin, because a Garmin can update OSM without any hassle. |

When the converter will be made?
I need maps of countries (especially Russia), maps that do not have Bryton ...
Can any of the advanced users learn how to convert and make maps for Bryton?
Here are instructions for replacing the maps for more detailed -

Translate.google not good. Maybe you will be able to understand well translated.
To replace the need for programs (Mobile atlas creator 1.8, Tksqlite).. |
