Team Additions: Mike Agustin, Genesis Manuel, Harry Petilos

Season 74 Run:
Once again, we are all here to be hopefuls, wishing to be at the top4 again. Since the Season 69(Bono's era), the campaign of the falcons to be in the "Final 4" has been (well.. uhmm..) Bad "statistic-wise", and not enough to be called consistent.
Season 69 - 6w 6L (First F4 appearance since the UAAP reformat)
Season 70 - 2W 12L (Bono out, Hugnatan Out, Bunch of players are being built up like Canada and Alvarez)
Season 71 - 3W 11L (No more Patrick Cabahug this time, Canuday missed this season, Nuyles plays!)
Season 72 - 2W 12L (Ok, this time, Camson and Cabrera enters and last playing year of Canuday)
Season 73 - 9W 5L (A solid, intact and all it's players are playing on their college prime, entered Final 4 playing as a team)
Now is the time for the Falcons to shine, its now or never! I myself can't believe to the power of our coach Leo Austria turning our "bunch" ordinary players into one "Great" team. Team work has always been the story for the Falcons, limiting possessions, creating team turnovers, setting plays(no fastbreak if necessary) and an overwhelming front and backcourt defense. With the loss of Stinnet, a good defender, coach must find a way to find an equal or better replacement for him especially in crunch time when he lets Nuyles play on offense and substitute Stinnet when they are on defense, because that for me is the reason why they are not falling down in crucial situations anymore. They need to find someone who can compensate adamson's lack of defense in the 1 and 2 positions.
First Five:
As I've posted before, here are my projected first five:
PG - Lester Alvarez
SG - Allen Etrone
SF - Janus Lozada
PF - Jan Colina
C - Austin Manyara
Second option Players
PG - Jerick "Air" Canada
SG - Alex "The Great" Nuyles
SF - Eric "Lebron" James Camson
PF - Roider "Ray Allen Lite" Cabrera
C - Rodney Brondial
(See?! Malalakas 2nd line up natin dahil lahat sila may aliases! Hehe)
Why first five?:
As simple as making Lester Alvarez as your first option and putting blue collared players like Lozada, Colina and Manyara in your team, Alvarez can freely execute the plays without any worries, I highly respect what Manyara, Colina and Lozada can do defensively and offensively, especially on rebounds!
Second option?:
On this line-up, expect that when Alvarez is out, Nuyles and Camson would probably in for offensive production purposes, these two can compliment each other in a good way all the time. Cabrera (ofcourse) will be there for offensive purpose as well, he may be in PF position, but expect him to play SG when Etrone is not making his shots. As for Manyara, now that Stinnett gone, no one will stop him to play more in the UAAP (UAAP allows only one foreign player in the court). But when things go bad in his terms, foul trouble and immaturity, you can rely on Brondial to produce good numbers as well. And as for his "Air"-ness(haha!), He will always produce defensive stops and will be there as one of the best combo guards in the UAAP alongside with Alvarez. Expect him also to be in the first five on the second round of this league.
Projected Result:
1. ADMU
2. FEU
3. AdU
4. DLSU
5. NU
6. UST
7. UP
8. UE
AdU vs. AdMU:
Though we have a 9-5 round last year against the defending champs, 2 of those key losses are against this team, now with the addition of Ravena and Slaughter, Adamson's biggest challenge this year is creating an upset and ending the streak, because after this year, I doubt if they can still beat this team in the next year or two, atleast in the UAAP. And oh yeah, now that Buenafe is gone, I think we can, i think....
AdU vs. FEU:
With the departure of King Tamaraw Reil Cervantes, we can live the expectations of just concentrating our defense to their no. 1 option RR Garcia. Pipo Noundou is also out atleast in the entire elimination that is why I am placing them on the 3rd spot this year. Number 2 problem for us in this team is Terrence Romeo and the upsets Excemeniano(whatever! the spelling) and Mark Bringas.
AdU vs. DLSU:
Last season is last season for this match-up, even though we marked a 2-0 on this team last year. It is still anybody's ballgame this season. We are now facing a team with so many players evolving, guys like Webb, Atkins, Andrada and Marata will be better than last season, for sure.
AdU vs. NU:
Parks, Mbe, Khobuntin, Singh and Terso are the guys you should worry about this team, Adamson and NU have so much in common with regards to their line up. The have a massive foreign center, a first option guard, and a blue collared players that would generously do almost anything in the game just to win, for me, this game would always end in a close fight.
AdU vs. UST:
Chris Camus, Jeric Fortuna, Paolo Pe, Jeric Teng and the Rookie Karim Abdul might have a good run this season, but and I said But! A three-point shooting team alone can't defeat Adamson University. They had proven it last year, and Im pretty much confident they can do it again.
AdU vs. UP:
Mike Silungan and former Baby Falcon Mark Juruena would still be coming short this season, though they had a good campaign in the pre-season leagues this year. I can't still find a way to reverse my decision on placing them on the lower 4.
AdU vs. UE:
Paul Lee and Ken Acibar is literally UE's life last season. Now that they are gone (also, James Martinez and Raffy Reyes) I could not find any reason not to say that Paul Zamar will face other UAAP team alone carrying his team at his back. |
