What types of fuel and/or energy source have you thought of for your use if the SHTF? Here are a few ideas. What can you think of that you could add?

Obvious stocking up on gas, diesel and propane but that will only last for so long.

Wood pellets, but pellet stoves only work if there is electricity.

Then there is wood good for cooking and heating your home if you have a wood burning cook stove and/or fireplace.

You could set up a generator with a gasifier, free FEMA plans for a gasifier at http://www.build-a-gasifier.com/FEMA-gasifier-plans.php

You could set yourself up with a solar and wind turbine power system.

What are your thoughts or could you add to this list....

The S is going to HTF.

I bought a motor scooter a few months ago.  It's a lot of fun, it's perfect transportation for 70-80% of my driving needs, and it gets about 100 miles to the gallon.

Otherwise, I've been considering this ... http://www.homemadeenergy.org/watch-now-mb/blaze

Doing my homework and if it's for real (doesn't cost much to find out), it'll be a "go".  I live in a great place for it too and my roof faces south.

Scott; did you know that you can run your scooter off of straight grain alcohol? Of course I would prefer to warm my bones from the inside out during the winter and cool nights with the grain alcohols but almost every gas motor can run off the grain alcohol.

The government will allow people to make wine and lagers at home but they wont allow grain alcohol to be made at home. I wonder if this has something to do with it.

I did look into making my own solar panels but the cost is a little more than I can afford. But I have been working with some of the power companies. By federal law, power companies must replace the solar panels they use every 5 years whether or not they are damaged.

I have been putting together my own wind turbine from old pvc pipes, alternator and a few other spare parts. You can find several different ones on youtube that look and work really good.
