 OFFLINE | April 7: Time
An hour stitched on,
The gift of 60 minutes,
The unimaginable wealth 3,600 extra seconds brings:
A half-hour sleep-in apiece,
Lights out at a reasonable hour,
Tea on time with dishes done;
Only the laundry misses
an hour of sunshine,
The price for swapping sun's rays for moon's;
And if our fitted sheets feel it,
damp elastic requiring tumble drying,
How do our hidden places feel?
The shoulders covered,
The legs encased,
The swimsuits put in the bottom drawer for the rest of the year;
Would I love loneliness if I chose to live in light,
with everyone else in dark?
Because I'd rather say when to draw the curtains than watch the sun go down. |
