One of the victims of the Arizona shootings was arrested over the weekend after threatening a Tea Party leader during a televised town hall meeting.

James Fuller, who was shot in the knee and back by Jared Loughner, shouted: "You're dead" at Tucson Tea Party co-founder Trent Humphries before being detained and taken to hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Fuller has campaigned in the past for congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who remains in hospital after being shot in the head at point-blank range but was yesterday taken off a ventilator.

Fuller, 63, reportedly became upset when Humphries suggested that any conversation about gun control should be delayed until all the dead were buried. Brandishing a picture of Humphries, he shouted: "You're dead" before calling others gathered in the church a bunch of "whores", authorities said. Deputies called a doctor and decided Fuller should be taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation, Pima county sheriff's spokesman, Jason Ogan, said.

A number of shooting victims and heroes had been invited to the event, including Fuller, a Vietnam veteran. After he was shot he drove to the hospital, where he spent two days.

In an interview with Democracy Now on Friday, he added his voice to others blaming rightwingers for fostering a climate of hate in the runup to the shootings. "It looks like [Sarah] Palin, [Glenn] Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target," he said.

for this guy's sake, i will assume he's dealing with some PTSD symptoms. not only from the shooting, but possibly from the nam as well.

I think that you could be right about this....but also, the Tea Party certainly HAS created some unrest, rightfully so or not.  That's one reason why I really don't like politics OR religion.  People are VERY set in their opinions of both of these things...and it's difficult to sway their opinions!

maybe you should be a politician, because that was a very politically correct, neutral response.

This is pretty much what I thought, but I thought he looked drunk or maybe loopy on pain meds.

You know, PTSD might be what he really has.  He certainly needs to be seen by doctors for a little while, for sure.

A lot more anger has been directed at the Tea Party in recent months.  They are accused of spreading hate and bigotry.  But I have seen little proof that the Tea Party is the racist hateful group they are accused of being.  Yeah, there are an awful lot of white people in the group. Maybe that's what scares folks?

Maybe its coz the Tea Party wants secure borders?
Maybe its because the Tea Party wants to retain its right to bear arms?
Maybe its coz our President is black and anyone who disagrees with him is labeled a bigot?

I am not a Tea Party member mainly because I'm not a Libertarian and do not think EVERY little thing the Prez does, or the Dems think...is wrong.  Sometimes...they do have a decent idea on a few issues.

But I dont see why folks think the Tea Party are hateful racists.

I dont see why Sarah Palin (whom I dont support for Prez) is hated so much.  I think she is inexperienced in the ways of diplomacy and the business of govt.  But I dont think she is a hateful bigot.

You want racist bigots?
Louis Farrakhan.  There's a racist bigot!
Malik Zulu Shabazz.  There's another one.
David Duke.  He's a racist...a bigot...a dangerous man.

Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman are merely conservative women that a lot of people gravitate to.  But from what I can tell, there is nothing to indicate they are dangerous people.

What I do think is that the Progressive left is afraid of their power.  And they are afraid of the power of people like Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.  And they are afraid of voters who listen to them...not because they are racists or bigots.  But because their values and ideals stand in the way of the Progressive agenda.

Thats what I think.
