OFFLINE | well, it looks like julian assange, the wikileaks guys, is now wanted by interpol, for a **** and assault in sweden. do you think this is an accident, or are there unseen actions in motion? because basically this means, whatever government finally picks this guy up, the american government will also be lobbying pretty hard to have him extradited, and face u.s. federal charges. and that will likely be sweden, whom the american military has many arms deals with, and let's not forget saab, one of swedens top exports.
but my question is, that i haven't heard asked yet, just who is funding this guy? how's he been held up, "in secret," and who's been footing the bill? george soros? |

OFFLINE | Dod, I thought I heard on O’Reilly last night, that Glenn Beck thought Assange was being funded by OSI…who is funded by George Soros. But I dunno.
Saw this today:
The noose tightens around WikiLeaks' Assange
LONDON – The law is closing in on Julian Assange. Swedish authorities won a court ruling Thursday in their bid to arrest the WikiLeaks founder for questioning in a **** case, British intelligence is said to know where in England he's hiding, and U.S. pundits and politicians are demanding he be hunted down or worse.
WikiLeaks spokesman Kristinn Hrafnsson said late Wednesday that the organization is trying to keep Assange's location a secret for security reasons. He noted that commentators in the United States and Canada have called for Assange to be hunted down or killed.
Sarah Palin likened Assange to an al-Qaida propagandist and accused him, without offering any proof, of having "blood on his hands."
"Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaida and Taliban leaders?" she asked in a message posted on her Facebook page.
"I think Assange should be assassinated, actually," Tom Flanagan, a former adviser to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, told the CBC.
In Washington, the top Democrat and Republican at the Senate Intelligence Committee called on Attorney General Eric Holder to prosecute Assange for espionage. Committee chairwoman Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and vice chairman Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., said in a letter Thursday that they believe Assange's behavior falls under the Espionage Act, which makes it a crime to willfully pass on defense information that could hurt the U.S.
U.S. government lawyers are investigating whether Assange can be prosecuted for spying, a senior American defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said earlier this week. WikiLeaks has not said how it obtained the documents, but the government's prime suspect is an Army private, Bradley Manning, who is in the brig on charges of leaking other classified documents to WikiLeaks.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said WikiLeaks is not a news organization and Assange is neither a journalist nor a whistle-blower, but someone with a political agenda.
"I think he's an anarchist," Crowley said. He said Assange is "trying to undermine the international system that enables us to cooperate and collaborate with other governments."
"What he's doing is damaging to our efforts and the efforts of other governments," the spokesman said.
There’s a bunch more stuff here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101202/ap_on_re_us/wikileaks
I don’t think he should be assassinated. But to me, it seems that if they take Assange to trial…if he was not convicted we’d be smart to have the FBI standing by to pick him up when the trial was over. And if he is convicted, we should ask our great friends in Britain to extradite this villain to the US when his sentence was over.
Looking at Assange, he seems to be a person of privlage…probably never did manual labor in his life. So 20 years at hard labor would (imo) be a satisfying result.

OFFLINE | Well well...they got the little bastard. I see wherehe's been arrested by Sctland YArd to face **** charges. Sounds like Wikileaks is having a helluva time staying online too. (Hmm..wonder how that happened?) Maybe when they are finished with him over here, they will extradite his @ss to the USA. |

OFFLINE | it looks like the weaselly rapist's weaselly army has launched attacks against the swedish government's official site, visa, mastercard, and sarah palin. which, the last one to me, is just hilarious. the left is obsessed with her, aren't they? anyway, i think this pretty much precludes any notion of assange being a journalist. this is cyber terrorism, pure and simple. |

OFFLINE | I'm not going to comment on the accusations of **** because if it's true the guy should have his balls cut off and be thrown to the lions imo.
As far as Wikileaks goes this is pure and simple a case of the American administration being caught out by someone other than China and throwing their toys out of the pram.
Sarah Palin really is a strong contender for the most stupid person in the world.

for sentence 2, i agree. the entire culture surrounding network security, starting under bush (who had how many leaks?) and continued by the obama administration, is just atrocious. they've obviously been too lax, and things will clearly have to change as a result of all this. in thatregard, i'm glad things happened the way they did, as it will help bring about security improvements in the cyber world. i'm still not sure, however, that the story about this pfc. manning being the entire source of all this material. is he really just a patsy in a much bigger game? at any rate, though, i don't think people like assange should be allowed to solicit classified materials from federal/military personnel, free from impunity. |

OFFLINE | Does anybody know if we can imbed videos here? Well, I'll give it a shot! This is what Ron Paul had to say on this topic. (I think it was yesterday.) Also, from what I heard, the charges in Sweden actually stem from him having unprotected sex with two different women. I understand at first it was because they wanted him to be tested for STDs, but he wouldn't. (or something like that) I seem to remember some accusations of **** a month or so ago, but then they were sort of dropped. At the time, he said the charges were bogus, and then there wasn't much said after that.
Well, here goes nothing!
OK. It worked, but you don't embed it with the video code. I had to go to another forum with videos, hit "quote" to see how it's done, lol! |

OFFLINE | initially, i sympathized with ron paul's position on this, up until the point where it became apparent this was a case of cyber terrorism (and i don't like using the word terrorism anymore, because it's just tossed out there nowadays WAY to flippantly). but that's what it is. now if assange were doing in the real world, the same things he's done on the internet, then he would be classed as an enemy agent. he's almost like the the e-osama bin laden. he's established a worldwide network of hackers and disciples, with the express intent of doing harm to the united states, AND private entities within the u.s. so why is it any different just because he's doing online, rather than in the mountains of tora bora? |

OFFLINE | Good Job Sarah!!! I've been trying to figure out how to put videos here too. So you put the phrase youtube in brackets [] and then the GPD etc in between and then close the youtube brackets.
What is the GPD stuff in between the brackets? |

Well, maybe I am too then because (while I dont support her for Prez), I don't see what she has done or said that is so stupid.
Also, this is more than just a case of the American Administration getting caught. This affects other countries (yours too)...anyone that has diplomatic ties to the USA. |

I think you're right. And why did he establish this network of hackers?
I think Assange and his followes are anarchists who jus hate the USA an the West. And imo, he doesnt take into consideration how his actions might affect the lives of men an women on the battlefield...or how they might stir up hate and potential terrorist strikes against innocent people in cities around the world.
He is reputed to have said the following:
“The West through it’s own corruption supports and extends corruption in developing countries.”
“(about the UK) Is that really a liberal democracy, where the press has secret gag orders?”
“…that hasn’t been picked up, why not? It’s current policy. It says in this manual that the Geneva Convention says one thing but…US military policy is to do something else.”
“…in fact the exchange rates of Western countries are pumped up by the looting and thievery from the developing world.”
I mean...this guy has a very low opinion of Western Democracis and I have difficulty seein how anyone reading these quotes, would fail to understand how this adds fuels to the (already) raging fires of hate for us.
The first batch of WikiLeaks documents undermined the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The latest batch undermines American diplomacy, the soft art of international bargaining and persuasion.
Assange’s goal is destruction, pure and simple.
He wants to expose to retribution those who cooperate with us on the ground in war zones. He wants to undercut domestic support for our wars. He wants to embarrass our foreign allies and exact a price for their trust in us. He wants to complicate sensitive operations like securing nuclear material in Pakistan and attacking terrorists with missiles in Yemen.
Assange is too blinded by zeal to realize that the content of his documents runs counter to his twisted worldview. As Tom Joscelyn of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies notes, his leaked Afghan war materials referred to numerous instances of decapitations perpetrated by the Taliban. The documents told the story of a civilized army struggling to prevail against barbarism while honoring its own norms.
Our leaked diplomatic cables again do more to vindicate a hawk’s view of the world than Assange’s juvenile leftism. The Gulf Arab states are as eager as Israel, perhaps more so, for the United States to strike Iran’s nuclear program. North Korea is transferring missile technology to Iran, in a concrete expression of the Axis of Evil. Syria is arming Hezbollah.
Confronting a dangerous world is difficult enough without the brazen exposure of the nation’s secrets.

OFFLINE | I too have wondered his motives, but I haven't actually heard what they are. But, as Ron Paul said, so far, most of the leaks have just been embarassing, not actually putting anyone in danger. (Not like when Valerie Plame (sp) was outed as working for the CIA, by people in the Bush administration.)
The cyber attacks, at least, haven't done any real damage other than crashing the servers, as I understand it. They haven't stolen information or caused damage to files, etc.
Again, I say, I don't have a clue what his motives are. Maybe someone peed in his wheaties or something. (sorry.....) |
