Welcome secret agents to “The Great Columbus Day Google Earth Hunt". Use the following clues to discover 10 secret places hiding in the world using Google Earth. Take a photo of it or video of you finding it. Make sure we can see the location on your computer or smartphone in the pic or video. The one who posts all 10 locations first wins. “Virtual” (not real) prizes for first, second and third place plus honorable mentions. Even if you don’t post all of them first or post all of them, make sure you still try posting all or as many as you can. Good luck agent.


1. It's video clue. Just click the video at the end of this clue to see (with a “cheeky“ surprise ending). If you are unable to view it, then here's the clue to read: Go to Hove Park in Hove, East Sussex in the United Kingdom and look for a common clue that detectives always look for. No need to dust for this though.


2. There is a McDonald’s that looks like a giant Happy Meal. Can you find it?

3. Yum! Brands Inc. created the what it claims to be the first ad that can be seen from space. (Clue: Yum! Brands Inc. own KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell).

4. It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Metropolis, home of Superman. This Metropolis is located in the US and is officially the "Hometown of Superman".

5. Health care exec sold his unfinished $26 million mansion in Shoal Creek, Alabama at auction in 2003 for $3.95 million. At 34,000 sq. ft (27 acres)., it has 21 bedrooms, 22 bathrooms, 13 car garage, a 25 seat home theater, and a wine cellar (only one?). It also has one very interesting characteristic. Post your find playing an “air instrument” (i.e. air guitar) in the pic/video.

6.. There’s a creek in Australia called “Dancing Dicks Creek”. Can you find it? Post your find while dancing in the pic/video.

7. A 130,000 square yard islet of Galesnjak also known as Lovers’ Island because it is shaped like a heart. Post your find holding a picture of someone you love or pose with that someone in your pic/video.

8. Time for a hell of a challenge: Talk about hell on earth. Can you find any place on Earth called Hell? Post your find while either planking, owling, or anything else like those in the pic/video. Or for the truly adventurous, post your find while mooning the camera.

9. Find Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Post your find wearing your favorite sports team clothing or accessory or colors in the pic/video.

10. In honor of the US’s Columbus Day, this is where Christopher Columbus landed when he spots land and discovers America. Post your find wearing your own home country’s colors in the pic/video.
