OFFLINE | no, this is NOT yet the post that i've been referencing. i'm still working on that, and i've put a lot of research time into it. but i'm going to go ahead and open the thread, and i'm going to be pinning it as well, so as additional soros information arises, we can bring it to light as well. IF some of you liberal folks don't dismiss it outright, i think it may open a few peoples' minds. |

OFFLINE | alright, this is it. i guess you could say this is by best attempt at an online “exposé.” now i've probably put close to 10 hours into this thing. it's very hard getting mainstream sources on a man who virtually owns the mainstream media, but of the sources i have that may be viewed with some skepticism from "the other side," they all make reference to interviews with what would be seen as reputable sources, and all make use of his own words, as he doesn't shy away from sharing his views.
this turned into a much longer post than what i was originally intending. so long, in fact, that i'm breaking it up into segments. i ask that you PLEASE take the time to read the entire thing before opining.
this man is the real-life incarnation of dr. evil. his sheer power and influence - over the media, economies, and our politicians - when coupled with his past and his views, makes him one of the most dangerous men on earth. but first, who is george soros?
George Soros was born George Schwartz in Hungary in 1930. Both of his parents were Jews, though non-religious. In his early childhood, Schwartz's parents changed their last name to “Soros” to disguise their Jewish background and embrace their Hungarian roots.
Soros was thirteen years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany occupied Hungary. Soros took a job with the Jewish Council, which had been established during the Nazi occupation of Hungary to carry out Nazi and Hungarian government anti-Jewish measures.
At age 14, Soros' father bribed a government official to take George in, and swear that he was his Christian godson. But survival carried a heavy price tag. While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to the death camps, George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.
From a 1998 60 Minutes interview:
KROFT: You're a Hungarian Jew who escaped the holocaust by--by posing as a Christian. And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.
SOROS: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that's when my character was made.
KROFT: In what way?
SOROS: That one should think ahead. One should understand and--and anticipate events and when--when one is threatened. as in, it was the other jews fault for not planning ahead.
KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.
Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.
KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.
Mr. SOROS: Yes. That's right. Yes.
KROFT: I mean, that's--that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?
Mr. SOROS: Not--not at all. Not at all.
KROFT: No feeling of guilt?
Mr. SOROS: No.

OFFLINE | but what makes him so dangerous? for starters, he likes to collapse currencies. he's widely known as the man that broke the bank of england.
On September 16, 1992, Black Wednesday, Soros's fund sold short more than US$10 billion worth of pounds, profiting from the UK government's reluctance to either raise its interest rates to levels comparable to those of other European Exchange Rate Mechanism countries or to float its currency.
Finally, the UK withdrew from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, devaluing the pound sterling, earning Soros an estimated US$1.1 billion. He was dubbed "the man who broke the Bank of England." In 1997, the UK Treasury estimated the cost of Black Wednesday at £3.4 billion.
On Monday, October 26, 1992, The Times quoted Soros as saying: "Our total position by Black Wednesday had to be worth almost $10 billion. We planned to sell more than that. In fact, when Norman Lamont said just before the devaluation that he would borrow nearly $15 billion to defend sterling, we were amused because that was about how much we wanted to sell."
"I didn't speculate against sterling to benefit the public. I did it to make money," explains Soros in an interview with Times Magazine Online.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Soros#Currency_speculation
In 1994 Soros crowed in “The New Republic” that “the former Soviet Empire is now called the Soros Empire.” The Russia-gate scandal in 1999, which almost collapsed the Russian economy, was labeled by Rep. Jim Leach, then head of the House Banking Committee, to be “one of the greatest social robberies in human history.”
When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an "economic war criminal" who "sucks the blood from the people." Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a "third way" toward economic stability.
Coincidentally, or not, during the height of the fears of worldwide recession, then President Clinton told the New York Times that he was proposing a "third way" between capitalism and socialism. Unfortunately for Soros, U.S. markets rebounded quickly, his predicted catastrophe was forestalled, and his brave new global economic plans receded for a bit.
This may have been to Soros' own good, though, because he was by 1998 up to his neck in the collapse of the Russian ruble, and buying up valuable East European resources at fire-sale prices.
France has upheld an earlier conviction against Soros, for felony insider trading. Soros was fined 2.9 million dollars.
Recently, his native Hungary fined Soros 2.2 million dollars for “illegal market manipulation.” Elizabeth Crum writes that “The Hungarian economy has been in a state of transition as the country seeks to become more financially stable and westernized. [Soros’] deliberately driving down the share price of its largest bank put Hungary’s economy into a wicked tailspin, one from which it is still trying to recover.”
But what about America? Soros told Australia’s national newspaper “The Australian” “America, as the centre of the globalised financial markets, was sucking up the savings of the world.”
Soros also told “The Australian” that the world financial crisis was “stimulating” and “in a way, the culmination of my life’s work.”

OFFLINE | this is a man who has said “The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States.”
The Democratic Party preaches it is for the little guy and bashes Wall Street and bankers mercilessly. Yet, they remain silent on the machinations of their patron saint, George Soros. He funds think tanks galore. He created the Center for American Progress - Obama's think-tank and hiring hall. The CAP is an adjunct of the Democratic party, peddling its ideas throughout the media landscape.
Soros has an empire of 527 groups he uses to elect Democrats and promote their policies. He is the top contributor to such shadowy groups and his political allies (Peter Lewis, Herb and Marion Sandler) assist him in funding.. Soros was an early and ardent supporter of Barack Obama, even using a loophole in federal campaign loans to exceed normal limits on donations.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/02/soros_betting_on_euro_collapse.html
and at a time when he's saying this (2010)....,
German's budget-savings policy risks destroying the European project and a collapse of the euro cannot be ruled out, billionaire investor George Soros said in a newspaper interview released on Wednesday.
"German policy is a danger for Europe, it could destroy the European project," he told German weekly Die Zeit.
Soros, who earned $1 billion in 1992 by betting against the British pound, added that he "could not rule out a collapse of the euro."
"If the Germans don't change their policy, their exit from the currency union would be helpful for the rest of Europe," he said.
Chancellor Angela Merkel unveiled plans earlier this month for 80 billion euros ($107 billion) in budget cuts during the next four years — a package she hopes will bring Germany’s structural deficit within European Union limits by 2013.
http://www.moneynews.com/StreetTalk/george-soros-euro-germany/2010/06/23/id/362790
he's doing this.
Years ago, he broke the Bank of England by wagering against the British pound, pressuring it in such a way that England had to devalue their currency - his first billion-dollar payday. Various ploys over the years enriched him further. Then he made billions by wagering that the housing and mortgage markets would collapse in America - a multi-billion dollar payoff again.
Now he is up to his old tricks again: working with other hedge funds to force the European currency to crack:
Some heavyweight hedge funds have launched large bearish bets against the euro in moves that are reminiscent of the trading action at the height of the U.S. financial crisis.
the two headlines (literally one on top of the other) say this: soros betting on euro collapse, and next, soros warns germany could cause euro collapse.
so to me, it seems that he enjoys betting against nations who are trying to become economically and fiscally solvent. he's a kaynesian globalist who wants big stimulus, big bailouts and big deficits. why? because he wants a one world government, or “open society,” and feels that the only way to accomplish this, is through economic desperation. all the various countries, particularly the united states, must be down on bended knee for help. |

 OFFLINE |
George Soros uses a vast network of special interest groups and non-governmental organizations, in the United States and abroad, to support his global objective — a one-world government.
Soros provided the following definition of an open society in his article, "The Capitalist Threat," in the February 1997 "Atlantic Monthly": "Societies derive their cohesion from shared values . . . religion, history, and tradition. When a society does not have boundaries where are the shared values to be found? . . . the concept of the open society itself."
The Open Society Institute is the cornerstone for the Soros Foundations Network, a group of Soros-funded organizations in more than 50 countries, which promote open-society concepts by influencing governmental policies.
The various branches and paid instrumentalities of the network include Democracy Alliance, MoveOn.org, America Coming Together, America Votes, The Center for American Progress, and other leftist front organizations, which advocate open borders for the United States — not for other nations but for the United States. These Soros-funded groups finance his camp followers, among them the Democratic Party, the National Organization of Women, abortion advocacy groups, various environmental groups, and last but not least, the increasingly powerful immigration special interest groups.
And Mr. Soros, along with his "progressive" friends may stand at the ready to usher in their vision of America by strategically re-writing the Constitution.
In April 2005, Soros' Open Society Institute was the primary sponsor of a conference at Yale Law School, called, "The Constitution in 2020." The conference's task was to produce "a progressive vision of what the Constitution ought to be." When one sees references in progressive speak about the "evolutionary character of constitutional law," they are talking about changing the Constitution to formally enshrine their policy preferences so they can avoid the messy necessity of having to win elections.
Open-society advocates would reinterpret the U.S. Constitution to better suit the "age of fallibility," which no longer recognizes unalienable rights or divine providence. The Soros open-society concept requires that the United States be removed as a superpower and that the American people be subjected to the will and wants of all the world's people.
His open society comes off as a bastardization of socialism and libertarianism. Incongruously he would lessen government intrusion while eliminating "excessive individualism." Essential to an open society is destruction of the nation-state authority, family structure, and religious beliefs, thus rendering national culture, heritage, and ethos meaningless.
Karl Popper (Soros' inspiration) concluded that since science has no certain truths or secure foundations, a state should have no fixed virtues or heritage.
as an interesting sidenote: In his later years, Popper became more of a libertarian, fearful of the abuses of power by socialists.
The Democracy Alliance is a shadow group of billionaires led by Soros that acts as a financial clearinghouse to support radical left-wing groups. Under the guise of honest debate and political criticism, Soros and his followers seek a change in U.S. policies.
Soros equates Bush and conservatives to communists and Nazis. From Popper's theory that communism and fascism were philosophically linked, Soros goes a step further and declares that America is an open society that does not understand the concept of an open society and does not abide by its principles.
Open borders are a stepping stone in his efforts to put into action his open-society philosophy. What form will a one-world government take?
In 2006, the Open Society Institute contributed to the U.S. Justice Fund, which, in turn, awarded a grant to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, San Francisco office, to defend non-citizens in criminal and immigration matters and to combat the federal government's "inappropriate" use of local jails for detention of non-citizens.
Organizations that receive Soros funding, directly or indirectly, include Human Rights Watch, the Center for American Progress, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), and the New Democrat Network (NDN). As an example of what these organizations do, the NDN operates the Hispanic Strategy Center to assist immigrants, legal and illegal. The goal is to extend the vote to all non-citizens and to assure that they vote the Democratic ticket.
The old bromides–environmental degradation, abortion, anti-war, poverty, human rights, justice for all, health care for all, and peace at any price are being doled out to a new generation in the hope that enough naïve, poorly educated U.S. citizens will support the open-society agenda.

OFFLINE | he has ties to the mideast turmoil.
Many are asking who started the riots in Egypt around Jan. 25, 2011, including Walid Phares on Fox News. Phares stated that he believed it was bloggers on Facebook who began the riots.
In April of 2010, a weekly magazine aiming to link Arab bloggers with politicians, the elderly and the elite was launched in Egypt. The weekly Wasla – or “The Link” – is being heralded as a first for the Arab world, with plans for articles by bloggers as a way of giving them a wider readership.
Wasla is published by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information and is financially supported by the Open Society Institute created by none other than George Soros.
In the 1st edition of Wasla, the cover featured Mohamed ElBaradei. ElBaradei is Wasla’s chosen candidate and he is also supported by the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran. George Soros and ElBaradei both sit on the Board of Trustees for the International Crisis Group.
Soros’ Open Society also funded the main opposition voice in Tunisia, Radio Kalima, which championed the riots there that led to the ouster of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
Soros made public statements that he supported the uprising in Egypt. He also tacitly supports the Muslim Brotherhood.
In a Washington Post editorial entitled, “Why Obama Has to Get Egypt Right,” Soros recognized that if free elections were held in Egypt, “the Brotherhood is bound to emerge as a major political force, though it is far from assured of a majority.”
He stated the U.S. has “much to gain by moving out in front and siding with the public demand for dignity and democracy” in Egypt.
He claimed the “Muslim Brotherhood‘s cooperation with Mohamed ElBaradei … is a hopeful sign that it intends to play a constructive role in a democratic political system.”
Soros did not mention his ties to ElBaradei.
Soros did, however, single out Israel as “the main stumbling block” in paving the way toward transition in the Middle East.
In attempting to explain how lobbyists get U.S. foreign aid for Egypt, journalist Pratap Chatterjee of the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress writes that Tony Podesta, “the brother of a former White House chief of staff,” joined with Toby Moffett, and Bob Livingston, to create a lobbying organization, the PLM Group, to represent Egypt in Washington.
Tony Podesta is the brother of John Podesta. He is Chatterjee’s boss at the Center for American Progress.
Politico reported that Tony and John Podesta started Podesta Associates in the late 1980s and that it was later renamed the Podesta Group.
Soros subsequently asked John Podesta to run the Center for American Progress, whose foreign policy expert, Brian Katulis, has been arguing on MSNBC that the U.S. ought to pull the plug on the Hosni Mubarak government in Egypt and deal with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Politico has since reported that the lobbyists in the Podesta Group and the Livingston Group had lobbied on the issue of a Senate resolution calling for free elections in Egypt. The story didn’t mention that a former Politico editor, John Ward Anderson, now works for the Podesta Group.

 OFFLINE | he's a meglomaniacal narcissist
Soros admits he has a messianic complex and thrives on chaos, much of it he creates by manipulation of governments and the market. Soros even praised the ‘genius’ of the perpetrators of 911.
I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control otherwise they might get me into trouble. – George Soros
Robert Slater, in his unauthorized biography of Soros—Soros, The Life, Times & Trading Secrets of the World’s Greatest Investor: “Yet, what is one to make of a child who believed he was God?”
Slater posits that such grandiose thoughts in childhood, if they were the “fleeting dreams of a small child” might be understandable if Soros had given any indication as an adult that he had outgrown his delusions.
“Yet, as an adult, he offered no sign, no dismissive gesture, no footnote signifying that he no longer clung to such wild convictions, but only the suggestion of how difficult it was for someone to believe himself a deity.”
In other words, Soros figured out early on that his messiah complex wasn’t going to be well received in the real world and he should try to tone it down a bit.
He’s having mixed results with that.
A passage in his book The Alchemy of Finance, published in 1987, distinguishes Soros from all other financiers, ever. ‘I have always harboured an exaggerated view of my self-importance,’ he wrote. ‘To put it bluntly, I fancied myself as some kind of god or an economic reformer like Keynes, or, even better, like Einstein. My sense of reality was strong enough to make me realise that these expectations were excessive, and I kept them hidden as a guilty secret. This was a source of considerable unhappiness through much of my adult life. As I made my way in the world, reality came close enough to my fantasy to allow me to admit my secret, at least to myself. Needless to say, I feel much happier as a result.’
In 2003, Soros figured out that he could force his repugnant ideas on America more efficiently by simply changing the government than by pressing the actual issues:
I’ve come to the conclusion,’ Soros told Fortune, ‘that one can do a lot more about the issues I care about by changing the government than by pushing the issues.’

OFFLINE | as i said, he practically owns the media, which shapes public opinion.
Books, newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, websites and cutting edge videos. The pieces of the George Soros media empire are as diverse as the nations of the world and just as widespread. From nakedly partisan left-wing media like Think Progress, the blog for the Center for American Progress, and a TV show on MSNBC, to the supposedly impartial National Public Radio, Soros has influence on the flow of information worldwide.
It gives him incredible influence. Every month, reporters, writers and bloggers at the many outlets he funds easily reach more than 330 million people around the globe. The U.S. Census estimates the population of the entire United States to be just less than 310 million.
That’s roughly the entire population of the United States with the population of Australia thrown in for good measure – every single month.
This information is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute which has been looking into George Soros and his influence on the media.
Just counting 13 prominent operations of the 180 media organizations he has funded equals 332 million people each month. Included in that total are big players like NPR, which received $1.8 million from Soros, as well as the little known Project Syndicate and Public News Service, both of which also claim to reach millions of readers.
And that’s really just the beginning. That tally takes into account only a few of the bigger Soros-funded media operations.
Just that one Soros-funded operation is heard “on over 900 stations, pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the United States.” But it posts no formal audience numbers. Phone calls to “Democracy Now!” were not returned.
Laughably, Soros denies he has a media empire, despite spending easily more than $48 million on that empire and having top journalists from more than 30 major news organizations serving on the boards of groups he funds.
“Another trick is to accuse your opponent of the behavior of which you are guilty, like Fox News accusing me of being the puppet master of a media empire,” wrote Soros in the introduction to his new self-promotional book “The Philanthropy of George Soros.”
But Soros wildly understates his own impact. On April 8, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi headlined a Boston conference on “media reform.” She was joined by four other congressmen, a senator, two FCC commissioners, a Nobel laureate and numerous liberal journalists.
The event was sponsored by a group called Free Press, which has received $1.4 million from Soros. Free Press has two major agenda items – undermining Internet freedom by pushing so-called “net neutrality,” and advocating for government-funded media to the tune of $35 billion a year. Many of those attending or speaking were affiliated with Soros-funded operations.
Free Press is just one of the better funded Soros groups. They also include the Center for American Progress ($7.3 million), which operates the heavily staffed Think Progress blog. That blog “now has 30 writers and researchers,” according to Politico.
Other well-funded operations include the investigative reporting operations at the Center for Public Integrity ($3.7 million) and Center for Investigative Reporting ($1.1 million), as well as Media Matters ($1.1 million) and the Sundance Institute ($1 million).
In fact, Soros funds nearly every major left-wing media source in the United States. Forty-five of those are financed through his support of the Media Consortium. That organization “is a network of the country’s leading, progressive, independent media outlets.” The list is predictable – everything from Alternet to the Young Turks.
A report by the Media Consortium detailed how progressives had created an “echo chamber” of outlets “in which a message pushes the larger public or the mainstream media to acknowledge, respond, and give airtime to progressive ideas because it is repeated many times.”
According to the report called “The Big Thaw,” “if done well, the message within the echo chamber can become the accepted meme, impact political dynamics, shift public opinion and change public policy.”
That mindset plays out in much of what the consortium’s members do. Alternet describes itself as an “award-winning news magazine and online community that creates original journalism and amplifies the best of hundreds of other independent media sources.” It hates Tea Parties and complains about “hatemongering” as the “ugly side of Evangelical Christianity.” The site gets 1.5 million unique visitors to its unique view of the world.
The list goes on and on. Project Syndicate calls itself “the world's pre-eminent source of original op-ed commentaries.” It has wide reach. “As of May 2011, Project Syndicate membership included 462 leading newspapers in 150 countries.” Its monthly circulation is 72,815,528. Naturally, “support comes from the Open Society Institute,” the primary Soros foundation.
The Soros “echo chamber” is even larger. Many of his organizations have a media component – from New Orleans, where he funds The Lens, to nations that were once part of the former Soviet Union. But he doesn’t have a media empire.
http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/article/soros-lefty-media-reaches-more-300-milli
even the “mainstream” media.
When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.
Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists' ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”
The investigative reporting start-up ProPublica is a prime example. ProPublica, which recently won its second Pulitzer Prize, initially was given millions of dollars from the Sandler Foundation to “strengthen the progressive infrastructure” – “progressive” being the code word for very liberal. In 2010, it also received a two-year contribution of $125,000 each year from the Open Society Foundations. In case you wonder where that money comes from, the OSF website is www.soros.org. It is a network of more than 30 international foundations, mostly funded by Soros, who has contributed more than $8 billion to those efforts.
ProPublica is far from the only Soros-funded organization that is stacked with members of the supposedly neutral press.
The Center for Public Integrity is another great example. Its board of directors is filled with working journalists like Amanpour from ABC, right along side blatant liberal media types like Arianna Huffington, of the Huffington Post and now AOL.
Like ProPublica, the CPI board is a veritable Who’s Who of journalism and top media organizations, including:
Christiane Amanpour– Anchor of ABC’s Sunday morning political affairs program, “This Week with Christiane Amanpour.” A reliable lefty, she has called tax cuts “giveaways,” the Tea Party “extreme,” and Obama “very Reaganesque.”
Paula Madison – Executive vice president and chief diversity officer for NBC Universal, who leads NBC Universal’s corporate diversity initiatives, spanning all broadcast television, cable, digital, and film properties.
Matt Thompson – Editorial product manager at National Public Radio and an adjunct faculty member at the prominent Poynter Institute.
The group's advisory board features:
Ben Sherwood, ABC News president and former "Good Morning America" executive producer
The well-known Center for Investigative Reporting follows the same template – important journalists on the board and a liberal editorial agenda. Both the board of directors and the advisory board contain journalists from major news outlets. The board features:
Phil Bronstein (President), San Francisco Chronicle;
David Boardman, The Seattle Times;
Len Downie, former Executive Editor of the Washington Post, now VP;
George Osterkamp, CBS News producer.
Readers of the site are greeted with numerous stories on climate change, illegal immigration and the evils of big companies. It counts among its media partners The Washington Post, Salon, CNN and ABC News. CIR received close to $1 million from Open Society from 2003 to 2008.

OFFLINE | he wants to use our decline to “restructure” the world.
On April 8, a group he's funded with $50 million is holding a major economic conference and Soros's goal for such an event is to "establish new international rules" and "reform the currency system." It's all according to a plan laid out in a Nov. 4, 2009, Soros op-ed calling for "a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order." (you want to read a scary article written by soros himself? http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/eo20091108a1.html)
More than two-thirds of the slated speakers have direct ties to Soros. The billionaire who thinks "the main enemy of the open society, I believe, is no longer the communist but the capitalist threat," is taking no chances.
Thus far, this global gathering has generated less publicity than a spelling bee. And that's with at least four journalists on the speakers list, including a managing editor for the Financial Times and editors for both Reuters and The Times. Given Soros's warnings of what might happen without an agreement, this should be a big deal. But it's not.
What is a big deal is that Soros is doing exactly what he wanted to do. His 2009 commentary pushed for "a new Bretton Woods conference, like the one that established the post-WWII international financial architecture." Soros wants a new 'multilateral system," or an economic system where America isn't so dominant. And he had already set the wheels in motion.
Just a week before that op-ed was published, Soros had founded the New York City-based Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), the group hosting the conference set at the Mount Washington Resort, the very same hotel that hosted the first Bretton Woods gathering.
While INET claims more than 200 will attend, only 79 speakers are listed on its site - and it already looks like a Soros convention. Twenty-two are on Soros-funded INET's board and three more are INET grantees. Nineteen are listed as contributors for another Soros operation - Project Syndicate.
The speakers include:
Paul Volcker, chairman of President Obama's Economic Advisory Board. He wrote the forward for Soros's best-known book, 'The Alchemy of Finance' and praised Soros as "an enormously successful speculator" who wrote "with insight and passion" about the problems of globalization.
Economist Jeffrey Sachs, director of The Earth Institute and longtime recipient of Soros charity cash. Sachs received $50 million from Soros for the U.N. Millennium Project, which he also directs. Sachs is world-renown for his liberal economics. In 2009, for example, he complained about low U.S. taxes, saying the "U.S. will have to raise taxes in order to pay for new spending initiatives, especially in the areas of sustainable energy, climate change, education, and relief for the poor."
Soros friend Joseph E. Stiglitz, a former senior vice president and chief economist for the World Bank and Nobel Prize winner in Economics. Stiglitz shares similar views to Soros and has criticized free-market economists whom he calls "free market fundamentalists." Naturally, he's on the INET board and is a contributor to Project Syndicate.
INET Executive Director Rob Johnson, a former managing director at Soros Fund Management, who is on the Board of Directors for the Soros-funded Economic Policy Institute. Johnson has complained that government intervention in the fiscal crisis hasn't been enough and wanted "restructuring," including asking "for letters of resignation from the top executives of all the major banks."
Even Soros admits his ties to INET are a problem, saying, "there is a conflict there which I fully recognize."
In the 2000 version of his book "Open Society: Reforming Global Capitalism," Soros wrote how the Bretton Woods institutions "failed spectacularly" during the economic crisis of the late 1990s. When he called for a new Bretton Woods in 2009, he wanted it to "reconstitute the International Monetary Fund," and while he's at it, restructure the United Nations, too, boosting China and other countries at our expense.
"Reorganizing the world order will need to extend beyond the financial system and involve the United Nations, especially membership of the Security Council,' he wrote. 'That process needs to be initiated by the US, but China and other developing countries ought to participate as equals."
Soros emphasized that point, that this needs to be a global solution, making America one among many. "The rising powers must be present at the creation of this new system in order to ensure that they will be active supporters."
The Soros empire is silent about this new Bretton Woods conference because it isn't just designed to change global economic rules. It also is designed to put America in its place - part of a multilateral world the way Soros wants it. He wrote that the U.S. "could lead a cooperative effort to involve both the developed and the developing world, thereby reestablishing American leadership in an acceptable form."
another sidenote. I was just looking around INET's website, and came across this article (http://ineteconomics.org/bretton-woods/learning-past) from members of the bretton wood 2011 conference, and this theme kept being mentioned:
Robert Skidelsky noted that in the early 1940s Keynes had proposed an international financial system that would give incentives for both surplus and deficit countries to reduce their imbalances. He lamented that the 1944 Bretton Woods agreements failed to create such incentives for surplus countries.
as I said, this idea kept being mentioned by various members. that the current system failed to “offer incentives” for surplus nations. barry eichengreen said there were no incentives to on surplus countries to “reduce imbalances.” now you tell me what that progressive codespeak stands for.

OFFLINE | and finally, he has the white house.
The personal relationship between Soros and Obama goes back at least as far as June, 2004, when the billionaire Soros hosted a fundraiser for Obama’s U.S. Senate campaign at his New York home. Soros’ and the Lefts’ “Chosen One,” Obama, was successfully elected to the U.S Senate. And, after the failure of their efforts to oust George Bush in 2004, Soros convened another secretive meeting of 70 like-minded and wealthy donors in Scottsdale, Ariz., to take a look at what had gone wrong and to develop a plan for the future. This meeting would eventually be called the “Phoenix Group” and, in the end, Barack Obama would be the benefactor of the efforts that would emerge from this confab.
In December 2006, as Obama was contemplating a run for the White House, George Soros and Barack Obama met to discuss the young senator’s political ambitions. In a matter of a few weeks, on January 16, 2007, Obama announced he was establishing a presidential exploratory committee although, at that point, he’d logged a total of only 143 days in service as a U.S. senator. “I recognize that there is a certain presumptuousness in this, a certain audacity to this announcement,” Obama would concede.
Literally hours after the announcement, Soros sent Obama the maximum individual contribution allowed by campaign finance law. Later that week, Soros announced that he would be supporting the candidacy of Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton, the candidate he’d previously supported. In an interview he conducted with Judy Woodruff in May, 2008, Soros was prophetic, gushing “Obama has the charisma and the vision to radically reorient America in the world,” and added “this emphasis on experience is way overdone.”
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=38917
Soros has visited the White House at least four times in 2009 and has influence with other frequent White House visitors.
In August 2009, Obama announced he was giving $2 billion in U.S. tax dollars to state-owned oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA of Brazil for offshore oil drilling. At the same time, George Soros increased his stake $811 million in the same oil company. According to Bloomberg Press, 22 percent of the $3.68 billion of stocks and American depositary receipts of Petroleo Brasileiro are held by Soros Fund Management LLC.

BOSTON – Without a formidable Republican opponent in his U.S. Senate race, Barack Obama has little reason not to take money from billionaire liberal financier George Soros, a man other Democrats keep at a distance.
When Obama took the stage Tuesday night for a prime-time address at the Democratic National Convention, the candidate for Senate in Illinois was introduced to a wider audience for the first time, bringing heightened scrutiny to the relative political newcomer's campaign.
Little has been made of his connection to Soros, although it is unique. Not only did Soros donate to Obama's campaign, but four other family members - Jennifer, sons Jonathan and Robert and wife Susan - did as well.
Obama is one of only a handful of candidates to get a personal contribution from George Soros. The others include Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D.; Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.; Bob Graham, D-Fla.; John Kerry, D-Mass.; Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.; U.S. Rep. Tom Lantos; and former Vermont governor Howard Dean.
Vachon (Soros' spokesman) said Obama was the only candidate this election cycle Soros had met personally, with the first powwow in March.

now you tell me what business a man who openly advocates the decline of america has stepping foot in the white house? or why he was invited by members of congress (rahm emanuel, barney frank, and others) for a sit down(http://wakeupfromyourslumber.com/node/9296)? i'll tell you why; the leadership of the democratic party has been taken over by progressives and radicals, and loosely agrees with soros' stance. i say loosely, because i believe its to varying degrees, and perhaps to different intended means, but the very culture of the left, via the nature of the two party system and use of subversive propaganda in the media (as i've highlighted), is now dominated by the same worldview. most probably don't even know it, and think that they actually do have america's best interest at heart, buying into the bleeding heart propaganda. regardless, for the most part, the left despises (the bubble of) american supremacy, and they want to see america knocked down a few pegs; to be just another member of a consortium or nations. they see it as unfair that america is more prosperous and powerful than other nations, which is the reason they support an “equity of nations” (as it was phrased in the letter sent by emanual and the gang to soros, in the link above).only, under soros' plans, there would be no “nations,” just a global hegemony of crony, or “state-capitalism,” aka the “third way.”
it's classic social engineering, just on a global level. this is the reason they support a global cap and trade, which would act as the greatest transfer of wealth in history, from the developed world (countries with surplus) to the developing world (countries with deficits).the have, and have nots. It's the reason obama fancies himself as a citizen of the world, as well as a citizen of the u.s.that's why he promised to “remake the world” in his berlin speech as a candidate, and this is remarkable, but i've just found another quote from that speech.
"This is the moment we must help answer the call for a new dawn in the Middle East."
given what we've seen in the middle east, this is just remarkable and uncanny to me.i think obama, owing much of his start to soros, and being groomed by the elites, share in soros' vision of a one world government. there's no doubt about that in my mind.
anyway, i hope that if nothing else, this will serve to open some of your eyes as to the network that's working behind the scenes (the essence of the shadow party) against the west's best interests, or the world for that matter, and at least gets you to start questioning more about what you think you know.

OFFLINE | Excellent! As a viewer of Glenn Beck, I was aware of much of this info. But I didnt know Christiane Amanpour was anything more than just a lefty. I didnt realize she served on the board of a group funded by Soros. I also found interesting that Soros has connections with MSNBC. Maybe that explains why Chris Matthews gushed on about Obama and the thrill he felt running up his leg? Soros backs Obama and is also connected to the tabloid MSNBC.
(Now...if we could only link him to Al-Qaida). Lol!
I agree with all that you've posted here. Great work and I hope you keep this one pinned. Lots of names I wanna take a closer look at here. |

OFFLINE | Given only the information you provided, I think you missed the point. Whats in this for Soros? I thought the quote "That one should think ahead. One should understand and--and anticipate events and when--when one is threatened," was very telling and went a long ways to explain why he was willing to do such damage to the British economy. The man, as portrayed above, is -like most high stakes investors- is an egoist. The action with the most benefit to the self is the most ethical action. This image is not consistent with the idea you convey in the latter half of the article about him being some form of liberal ideologue. If he is investing that much money, he's most likely striving toward an economic outcome beneficial to him.
As for his control of the media, I would like to remind that making financial contributions do not necessarily equate to control.
As for NPR, here is an article reflecting on the decision to take Soros's money and where it is going. http://www.npr.org/blogs/ombudsman/2011/05/25/136216017/worthy-cause-controversial-funding-source?print=1
I do think its unfortunate that our politics are so heavily influenced by two particular individuals. |

well, he's accomplishing both simultaneously. he's lining his pockets off of the hardships of nations, but also helping facilitate those hardships in order to move the world toward what he thinks it should be like. he's a parasite.

it does when a checkbook worth billions is behind the 7 figure checks. it does when it means certain people can get a position on some of his boards, and advance their own careers.
and dennis said something very important to me, that i want to stress. there are a lot of other names that kept recurring in that long post. i don't want this to be ONLY about soros, but rather to highlight the extensive network of operatives and financiers that run ALLLLL these hundreds of influential organizations. the main point is, these people are in the shadows, and the public is oblivious to them and their influence over the left. |

OFFLINE | Am looking at your source material there Dod, and am seeing a bit of a trend:
http://www.thenewamerican.com - banner ad, "Choose Freedom. Stop Obamacare"
http://www.americanthinker.com - "Obama's Undeclared War on America"
http://www.realnewsreporter.com - "Breaking: Secret Bilderberg Agenda Leaked by Mole"
http://a12iggymom.wordpress.com - "2012 U.N. Conference Designed To Eliminate Americans’ 2nd Amendment Rights!"
http://www.wnd.com - "How 'moderate' Muslims are Islamizing America"
http://gulagbound.com - "Apologetic Anthony Weiner Continues to Harm the U.S. like a Good Progressive"
http://www.nhteapartycoalition.org - tea party, not exactly liberal-friendly
http://canadafreepress.com - has a "Countdown until Obama leaves Office" on the top
http://www.cnsnews.com - banner ad: "laughing at liberals is good for the soul",
http://www.foxnews.com - 'nuff said
http://www.humanevents.com - banner says "Leading Conservative media since 1944"
http://www.conservapedia.com - not even going to go there
So, am thinking that the source material isn't exactly from what you can call an unbiased and impartial point of view. Am not going to argue that his reach isn't as pervasive as you say, but as for his motives, am taking anything there that isn't a direct quote or that I can't fact-check elsewhere with a rather large pinch of salt.
And I know the counter-argument here is going to be that "the rest of the media is either controlled by Soros or has a liberal/leftward bias anyway" - which is the kind of argument we've had before that neither of us can win, and if it is actually true then there can be no such thing as "news" any more, only opinion slanted in one direction or the other. |

OFFLINE | miles, as i said in the opening, most of these sources, which are admittedly right-wing, make use of what would be considered mainstream sources themselves. interviews with sixty minutes, and reputable newspapers. dismiss the sources themselves if you like, but don't dismiss the sources of the sources. i purposefully tried to select such sources within sources, because i knew exactly that the information on soros is hard to swallow, because it's so grandeous, and that there would be a desire to dismiss it. the main purpose of giving sources was to illustrate that all this was widely known, just ignored. it's always an uphill battle when trying to buck the mainstream narrative, but if i can just get you curious enough so as to dig into some of these groups, and their interconnectedness with the most powerful individuals in the world, not just america, then i've done my job.
and why would you doubt his intentions? just like with the palestinians in regards to israel, all you have to do is take him at his own word. |
