OFFLINE | I just received a bittersweet letter from Aaron today. He became sick Friday June 3, with apparently the flu. I feel so helpless....mama is not there to take care of him, but the Marine Corp is. :/ I know they will do all in their power to see he gets quick treatment, but it not the same!! I'm going to need to be self-restrained because I want to head out there right now!! The SR DI SSgt Hall had Aaron on bedrest Sunday so he could recuperate. He feels bad that he couldn't write Megan a long letter as usaul but will in a few days. He feels really bad and went to medical on Monday 6th. I bet it was from sleeping out in the cold and had NO HOT CANTEEN to cuddle up with!!
I am upset that their letters are way behind for plt 2166 bc they stayed at CP. He told me his last letter from Meg was dated May 22, and mine was May 27, WTH!!!! I know one thing, once back at MCRD, they are going to have a stock-pile of letters!! He is ready to get back.
Well some good news...he did qualify as Expert from doing Table II. He is elated with himself. He wanted his dad & papa know right away. He is a little nervous for the FBI will be interviewing him for the Intelligence Program. That I guess would make you feel uneasy but he'll be fine, I know it. He just needs to be confident .
Please keep Aaron in your prayers, we'd appreciate it. Hopefully nobody else caught it but its hard to contain that stuff. Too much sickness going around !!! Like I said feeling helpness!
May everyone have a great Friday. Its already Fri morning here. May there be letters in your mailboxes...I'll be waiting for awhile and thats a-ok! I'm going to write him a letter right now!!!
OohRah Hotel Co....looking forward to see each & everyone one of you on the parade deck!!! |

OFFLINE | Brenda! I'm so sorry to hear that Aaron is sick :/ I will definitely keep him in my thoughts for you :]
I'm also so very happy to hear you got a letter, that's great news! I don't, however, like the fact that the mail has been held for THAT long, I hope they've been able to keep their spirits up without it :/
OH! And HOW awesome that he qualified expert!! That's so fantastic! And the FBI?! Is he going to do that through the Marines or something? Either way that's all around great news (minus the flu) and I'm sure you're sooooo so proud of him!
I'm crossing all my fingers and toes I get mail tomorrow, I hope Steven's still doing alright, I'm sure he is though, he's a positive person..I'd just like confirmation! Haha ah oh well, hopefully I'll be back here tomorrow with good news!!
Have a fantastic Friday ladies! I am now OFFICIALLY a Junior here at WWU!! I can't believe it, upperclassman status! ;]
Night night ladies!
P.S. I got the job!! Thank you again for all your well wishes! :]] |

OFFLINE | Hugs, Brenda. My son was very sick during firing week. he said he had pneumonia but refused to go to medical b/c he didn't want to miss any firing. they also had that 8 mile march with 80lb packs coming up. i was beside myself with worry and really angry he was being so stubborn. but there was nothing i could do. so i waited for a letter. when it came he made no mention of being sick. |

OFFLINE | grr, it wouldn't let me keep typing! anyway, my son made it through that week (if he went to medical he never mentioned it), then last week he woke up with pink eye. down the mountain they took him until he was better. he was so angry to be away from his platoon. he recovered quick b/c he was good to go for table two firing. i think these kids have become so mentally tough they can will their way through a lot, but their immune systems are so taxed at the moment, and they are under such intense stress, that when they get to the breaking point, the only thing to do is get meds and some rest.
one thing i know is, Mama Marine wants her boys to graduate, and to that end she will do what needs to be done. it's our darn boys who wait too long to get treatment!
i'd tell you to try not to worry too much, that your son will be fine, but having recently been in your shoes, i know it would be like telling the sun not to rise. so i'm sending hugs, and will pray Aaron, if he hasn't already recovered, is on the fast track to full recovery.

OFFLINE | Thanks Amanda and Karin, your words are encouraging...I needed some of that. I know Aaron will do what he needs to get well, because next week they are busy. He will not want to miss out on any of it. He is strong and will push through whatever he has to.
Yeah! Amanda!!! Officially a Junior and has a new job!! CONGRATS!!

OFFLINE | Brenda, I am so very sorry to hear about Aaron being sick.......I can completely understand the helplessness that you are feeling as it is a Mothers nature to nurture and take care of our families when they are sick, emotionaly down, hurting etc......The not knowing for so long and then getting a letter like that in the mail must have been very heartwrenching for you!!!!!!!! My first inclination would also be to head right over there to make sure that he was being treated the best that he can be treated........Being in Medical is NOTHING like being at home with Mama's watchful eyes and loving heart to help get them back to wellness!!!! I sincerely hope that he has gotten the attention that he needs and is back to 100% health!!!!~ I know how hard it must be for these guys to even admitt that they aren't feeling well......and as they see more and more of their "brothers" getting sick and missing out on their platoon activities I am sure that they really don't want to say anything at all.......Men can be so damn stubborn at times..... I am also VERY VERY UPSET that they have not been receiving their mail......it shouldn't matter that they are at CP or not.......Those letters are what keep our guys motivated and going.....it lets them know that they have people that are rooting for them and cheering them on and hoping that they are ok.......So I can see here from everyone's post that I was not the only one thinking that Marquis' letter was not corelating with what I had writen!!!!! Probably one of the main reasons these guys want to get back to MCRD so badly.......And Brenda you are so right, when they do finaly get back there on Sunday I think they are all going to be innundated with letters..... Which hopefully will help to boost their morale!!!!~ I know I have sent a letter a day and sometimes 2 so they should have at least 20 something letters waiting for them!!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!!!I am so proud of Aaron for qualifying Expert!!!!!!! That is awesome!!!!!!! Marquis was SOOOOO close....as he went into to Table II Expert and ended up coming out Sharpshooter because of ONE SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was very frustrated with himself for that one.....ONE FREAKIN SHOT!!!!!!~ Can you belive that???????? I obviously sent an encouraging letter to him to try to help him see that it was OK..........Sharpshooter was still awesome and that he will get the opportunity to re-qualify next year!!!!!! I don't know if those words will soothe him or not as he is very hard on himself and is probably feeling like he let himself down.......But I don't think he has anything to feel bad about....it wasn't as if he DIDNT QUALIFY at all and it wasn't as if he missed Expert by a ton of points......but looking at it from his point of view, that one shot will probably stay with him for a long time..........It is times like that I simply wish I could be there for him to tell him, "It's ok Marquis".........and give him a hug.....
Aaron is most definitely in my prayers Brenda!!!!!!!~ As are the rest of our guys in Plt. 2166!!!!!! I hope that they can all overcome whatever it is that is ailing them down there and remain healthy for the rest of their time at BC........They need to be very rested and 100% in all aspects as they are only 2 weeks and 3 days away from The Crucible....which is going to take a lot out of them!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to you AMANDA for getting your job!!!!!~ ........I knew you would!!!!!!!~ Also, WOOHOOOO on being a Junior!!!!!~ You are almost there sweety!!!!!~ Hope you all have a wonderful Friday, I hope you all get some mail over the next few days, and you ALL are in my thoughts and prayers!!!!!!!! {{BIG HUGS}} to Plt. 2166 Family!!!!!!!!~ Oorraahh Plt. 2166!!!!~ And of course to Plt. 2161 for you Lynette!!!!!!! |
