OFFLINE | Botulinum Toxin – why over injecting can be harmful
Over the last few months, we have had many guests come back to us telling us about how their injections have not taken effect, and wanting further top up treatments to be performed, in very short spaces.
It is very common for guests that have had anti-wrinkle injections to ask for further top up treatments to be performed as they don’t think that their injections have taken affect.
Our very own Surgeon, who performs not only our Anti Wrinkle Injections, but also performs all of our other non surgical treatments, often finds himself repeating to many guests, that over injecting in short spaces is harmful, and can have a reversed effect to what the guest wants to achieve.
His experience has recently been backed by the latest news in PRIME Magazine, International Journal of Aesthetic and Anti-Ageing Medicine, where, it clearly states guests should wait for effects to settle, and should wait for a minimum of 3 to 4 months between sessions in order to get full effect of your injections.
We have brought you a snippet of this article below:
‘Botox: some just can’t get enough’
‘Guests with extreme addiction to their youthful new look are, however, being warned by doctors as some just cannot get enough of neurotoxin treatments and are returning to physicians even when there is only a slight movement in the forehead, or other areas, failing to respect the 3 to 4 months interval between sessions.
In some cases, injecting more than the usual dose at shorter intervals might make it harder to keep the eye brows from drooping. The problem can be addressed by educating guests, explaining the consequences of over use’ Prime-journal.com, P17, Ed July/August 2013, Vol 3, Issue 5
At Castlefield Clinic & Spa, we are always trying to educate our guests regarding the use of these injections, and also ensure, they know the risks associated with these injections and also top up implications.`
Our advice is always to know who is performing your injections, and also find out the risks associated with these injections, and always to follow the guidance of your physician or doctor who is performing your injections. |
