and like her father, she's a strong little lass. poor girl has my big feet, with my big monkey toes, long legs, my big shoulder and bicep muscles that make her look like a little gorilla baby, and my big hands. less than 24 hours and she's already trying to hold her head up. when you push on her legs, or even when you're trying to change her diaper, she pushes back with her strong little legs, and spreads out those little monkey toes, making it difficult to put on socks or even wipe her butt. you grab her arm to put her in a shirt, and she pulls back. you try to swaddle her, and within a few seconds she's broken out. likes to stretch and use those muscles a lot, and look around with those pretty eyes. and her long eye lashes, which she happens to get from me too. aside from her lips and chin, everyone who's seen her agrees she's a little doddy jr. yet at the same time, everyone who's seen or held her, even those who already have their own kids, seem absolutely smitten with her, and have a hard time parting.

as for mrs. dod, she impressed EVERYONE in that delivery room. her water broke at about 11:30 friday night. so we go to the hospital, and mostly spend the next 17 hours waiting. she fought through the contractions while she and her mother took three walks of 45 minutes in length, the last of which she barely made it through. then they doped her up and we waited and waited, and she dialated faster than anyone thought, and finally it came to be time to push. the nurse told us that in a best case scenario, a first time mom could expect to push for two hours. so we begin, she cowboys the **** up, and 15 minutes later, our child enters the world. everyone was absolutely blown away. just as the baby came out and they laid her on my wife's chest, i exclaimed, "two hours of pushing, my foot!" to which everyone laughed. i mean her midwife said she'd never seen anything like that in her whole career. it only took the misses about 3 contractions to figure out what to do, and from there, she just knocked it out of the park.

amazing life changing experience. humanity can never be more pure and innocent than this.

When my son was born, someone told me that I would never love him quite as much as that day. That was a lie. I finally loved him more the day he moved out of the house ;-D

it's funny, cuz i was holding one of my wife's legs, and her mom was holding the other, counting out to 10 and all that, and i caught myself subconsciously holding my breath and pushing with her, and when i mentioned it, her midwife said you better stop doing that or you're gonna wind up on the floor lol.

Aw, that's wonderful news, Dod!  I had you on my mind all weekend.  I felt like it was about time for the wee one to join this big ol' world.  Glad she made it safe and sound & that Ms. Dod did such a great job!  I guess that means I better get that little outfit in the mail before she outgrows it!!  Much love and blessings to you all! new update:

they had to keep her another night because she's borderline jaundice, and they didn't want to release her, and then have to turn around and readmit her. she's also tongue tied (which means that little flap of skin under her tongue is too long, so she can't fully extend her tongue), so we have to get that clipped. but all in all, she's in amazing health.
