OFFLINE | something that frustrates me, is the number of websites (mainstream news websites) that don't do their own reporting, and simply copy and paste whatever the AP puts out. even the broadcasts source and reference the AP's articles. this is another reason the mainstream deserves to be called the lamestream. all the mainstream is, is as soros would put it, one big echo chamber. this is just another example of how all the mainstream just repeats itself, and quotes itself, and sources itself, and the independence of thought (which is important in a free media) just doesn't exist. everybody's marching to the beat of the same drum, all united by a shared worldview. there's no diversity within its ranks.

OFFLINE | take a look for a book called "Flat Earth News" dod: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flat-Earth-News-Award-winning-Distortion/dp/0701181451. That will tell you how bad it really is.....
It's not an issue of a shared worldview or some big lefty pinko conspiracy, it's all about news organizations cutting costs and increasing workloads so the "reporters" don't have time to research their own stories or even to fact-check the ones they do get. It's all about throughput, if a newsman has to come up with 10 or 20 stories per day, how thorough do you think he's going to be with them?
So, you could say that it's the "free market" at work :-p |
