OFFLINE | One might argue that 'Elitism is real' is a sociological topic rather than a political one, whereas any resolution with a prefix THW (would) concerns policy, namely what is to be done. Depends what you define as 'political'. I do not believe we should worry too much about this. Debating is all about rhetoric and strategy, however, it remains pretty clear what we are discussing and things are rather different from the world of politics, its demagoguery and smoke screens.
So we may as well debate women's rights, taxes, global issues, immigration policy, government subsidies. I'm sure you will eventually do much better than what we get from 'professionals'.
Besides, policy is strictly about ourselves: what is to be done in a given situation in order to improve, flourish and develop. Obviously these things concern us all. And since, as debaters we do not have special/private interests, it is us who can go further and explore more than many.
