He gathered me up like an armful of clothes and held me to him.
I got his lovely suit jacket wet and snotty, and his pristine white shirt was spotless no more.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” I held back and looked at his ensemble. I swabbed it with the scarf.
“Don’t cry again,” he said hastily. “Just don’t start crying again, and I won’t mind taking this to the cleaners. I won’t even mind getting a whole new suit.”
I thought it was pretty amusing that Eric, the dread master vampire, was afraid of weeping women. I sniggered through the residual sobs.
“Something funny?” he asked.
I shook my head. ~ LDID
“Did you just come to check up on me?”
“To Dallas?”
I nodded.
“Yes.” He shrugged.
He was wearing a knit shirt in a pretty tan-and-blue pattern, and the shrug
made his shoulders look massive. - Sookie & Eric
“Jump,” Eric said, holding out his hands and smiling. I laughed. I took a running start, and leaped. Eric caught me, his hands clamped around my waist. He lifted me up until my head touched the ceiling. Then he lowered me for a kiss. I wrapped my legs around his torso, my arms around his neck. We were lost in each other for a long moment. <3
It was a beautiful, cool night and I was riding in a wonderful car.
“You are happy,” Eric said.
“Yes. I am.”
“You will be safe.”

“Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink,” I said, and Eric laughed out loud.
That was why I liked him, I thought rosily; he “got” me.
Eric was carrying me upstairs.
“Rhett and Scarlet,” I said.
“I don’t understand,” Eric told me.
“You haven’t seen Gone with the Wind!” I was horrified. But then, why should a vampire Viking have seen that staple of the Southern mystique?
But he’d read The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, which I had worked my way through in high school.
“Let go,” he advised me, and I loosened my grip on his hands.
“No, not of me,” he said, smiling. “You can hold on to me as long as you want. Let go of the pain, Sookie. Let go. You need to drift away.”
It was the first time I had relinquished my will to someone else.
As I looked at him, it became easy, and I retreated from the suffering and uncertainty of this strange place. - Sookie & Eric
I patted around under the covers for his hand.
When I found it, I slid my own over it.
His palm was turned up to meet my palm, and his fingers clasped mine.
And though I would not have thought it was possible to go to sleep holding hands with a vampire,

If there were an international butt competition, Eric would win, hands down—or cheeks up.
He would get a large, large trophy.
I had never realized a woman could have to struggle to keep her hands off a man, but here I was, digging my nails into my palms, staring at the inside of my eyelids as though I could maybe see through them if I peered hard enough.
It was somehow degrading, craving someone so... so voraciously.
I was so on fire for him I was surprised that flames didn’t flicker out my fingertips.

After a moment, he said, “Don’t close your eyes. Look at me, lover.”
The way he said “lover” was like a caress, like he was calling me by a name no other man had ever used before or ever would after.
His fangs were completely extended and I stretched up to run my tongue over them. ~ Sookie & Eric
He put a finger under my chin so I would raise my eyes to his. “No,” he said quietly. “You took
me in off the road and kept me safe. You’re ready to fight for me. I can tell this about you. I can’t believe
my luck. When this witch is defeated, I would bring you to my side. I will share everything I have with
