I am not liking calcium carbonate or calcium citrate. The citrate makes me very dehydrated and I still have symptoms after taking it even after 5 months. I tried just using carbonate, but I don't seem to be absorbing it as well. I have never been able to get down to 1000 mg of calcium supplements per day. I am over twice that. Absorption issues? I have had several slightly high kidney labs and so have been thinking about other forms of calcium. Any thoughts about or experiences with pico-ionic liquid calciums? I am nervous to try this, but I want to protect my kidneys and improve my absorption. I also tried adding vitamin C because this is supposed to help with absorption.

If it is a calcium sensing problem and not an absorption issue, is there anything I can do to improve this? How do people get to 1000 mg of daily calcium and no more? Even 1500 would be good. I am at 2500 mg/ day five months out. I read that your parathyroid can be confused by magnesium if you have sensing problems and that your PTH can drop if you are already low on the calcium and take magnesium. Any other things to consider?
