 OFFLINE | When ever a speaker coil blows in a dvc speaker like this wouldn't it sound like crap or would it keep playing on the other coil? I seemed to lost some ump to the woofer. but it sounds ok not blown sounding. |

 OFFLINE | That's correct. It can still keep playing if one coil is toast if you have them hooked in parallel.
That's why I, if given the choice, usually hook DVC subs in series to each other, then wire the subs (if more than one) in parallel to the amp. That way if one coil on the sub goes bad, that sub will just stop working completely.
If you have an ohm meter, check the resistance on each coil and make sure they're the same. A good one will read between 1.6 ohms and 1.8 ohms of Direct Current resistance (opposed to the "impedance" of 2 ohms). If either of them is out of that range then it's fried. |
