Some of you will have seen this here or there already, but I want to take the opportunity to share my current crowdfuning project here, too.

After 6 years of "seriously" designing games and active member of the Game Designer Association (SAZ), my first game becomes reality: Steam Noir: Revolution. You can read more about the typical up-and-down development (hi)story on BGG:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/blog/1984

The game is highly interactive, simultaneous gameplay and hidden goals capture the feeling of a couple of revolutionary factions with the same goal (overthrow the Emperor!), but also struggling for becoming the future leader. Additionally you are free to change your tactics and acting like a traitor helping the Emperor to put down the rebellion. When the Emperor does so, the faction (and its player) with the least point wins the game!

When looking for a background and graphics, I stumbled across comic artist Felix Mertikat, who lives very close. So I contected him, and he liked the idea of contributing graphics from his "Steam Noir" universe - his recent comic book series, having won "Best German Comic Book" in 2012.

Eventually, we decided to launch it via crowdfunding, and the chosen platform is startnext, the best known in Germany, though internationally - well, not so. ;-)

The game won 2nd place of the 25th Hippodice Game Designer Award a couple of days before our launch, which helped reaching the funding goal of 7.000 Euros within 4 days. Together with a couple of other games on the platform, this project is the first example of an independently financed game in Germany having such an instant success. I hope, other game designers will be encouraged, since crowdfunding is not yet a big deal considering games in Germany. The project runs until the 12th of May, starting right now into its second four weeks with an amount of 10.400 Euros ...

So, for people outside Germany, this might be intersting - besides the game ;-) - because of the following:

1. The rules will also be in English, as is the project page, game components are language independent (only the names of the factions are on the cards, together with their distinct colors and pictures). The (not completely final regarding structure, wording, etc.) English rules are online for download. Print and Play for free via e-mail contact.

2. Worldwide shipping is only another 3 Euros for one or two games, and 5 Euros for three.

3. We will only print the backed copies plus 150 or so for direct sales on live presentations of the game, but there will be no further distribution. Only the supporters and retailers supporting us will get copies. So, it would be great, if you'd share this on Facebook, Twitter, tell your FLGS, online retailer, friends, gamers, steampunk fans, comic aficionados and mother-in-law.
