The Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce seeks Writing & Linguistics majors and minors to fill several internships.  These positions will provide excellent opportunities for students to work in an exciting community-oriented role with plenty of networking potential.  Positions open to Junior and Seniors only. All applicants should have a firm understanding of the mission of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce.

Communication Internship

Description:  The Communication Intern will be responsible for monitoring communication forums for accuracy, consistency, and relevancy.  Specific duties may include maintaining and updating the Chamber’s website and Facebook pages, in addition to other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with exceptional writing skills and a keen awareness of audience. Applicants should be deadline-driven and detail-oriented, with an eye for proofreading and editing. This individual will have strong organizational skills and must be able to work well independently and as part of a group. Awareness of professional etiquette required. Familiarity with HTML not required, but preferred.

Business Writing Internship

Description:  The Business Writing Intern will be responsible for assisting in the updating, composing, editing, and/or proofreading of the Chamber’s Policy and Procedures manual, and other projects as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a critical thinker with exceptional writing skills. Applicants should be deadline-driven and detail-oriented, with a meticulous eye for proofreading and editing. This individual will have strong organizational skills and must be able to work well independently and under direction of supervisor. Awareness of professional etiquette required.

Technology & Writing Internship

Description: The Technology & Writing Intern will be responsible for utilizing various technologies—including the Chamber’s client management software—for writing-related projects.  Intern may assist with several aspects of the Chamber’s client management system, including writing templates, tracking and analyzing information, and corresponding with chamber members.  In addition, intern will assist with the editing, proofreading, and formatting of the chamber’s newsletters and bulletins.  Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.    

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will be a self-starter and with very strong writing and technological skills.  Applicants should be quick learners with and working knowledge of HTML. Applicants should be deadline-driven and detail-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and creatively solve problems.  This individual will have strong organizational skills and must be able to work well independently and under direction of supervisor. Awareness of professional etiquette required.

2. Names and contact information (e-mail/phone number) for three professional references. Please also note your relationship to the reference, e.g., “former professor”;
3. A one-page letter addressing qualifications and experiences related to the responsibilities of the position.
4. Writing sample of no more than five pages.
