OFFLINE | Q: I want to receive my SSA retirement benefits in Vietnam because I live here. Can I do that?
A: Yes, you can. You have to bring your ID to our section and fill out the appropriate forms. You will have to agree with the special requirements of SSA to either deposit your benefits in your bank in the U.S. or to receive checks at our office. The special requirements require you to appear in person at our section every month to sign a logbook. No one else can sign for you. If you don’t appear, your benefits will be suspended and sent back to Treasury. You are responsible to notify us of any change in address or incapacitation.
