Think about the last four days of your life. What would it have been like if you didn't have electricity during this time? Would you be in sweltering heat? What would you do at night? How would you prepare meals? And what if your whole town was disrupted?
Over the years, we've literally had tens of thousands of folks who've been through OF&F. Most have gone onto other things. Some check in on occasion and some are still active. And we've known many from the seven states that have been so dramatically affected by the recent rash of tornado's.
I'm sure if we could check in on them all, we'd learn that some have been pretty severely-affected. One of our own who we know has been affected is Bama Bob. He's been that person without electricity for the fourth day.
I heard from him a few hours ago and he said he's OK. I asked if we could help in any way and he suggested prayers and the Red Cross. I told him I would honor his wishes. And I have.
One of the greatest virtues of Americans is that in time of need, we pull together. This is one of those times ... over 340 have died, many more are still unaccounted for and great damage has been done to large parts of the south ... likely to some we've known in OF&F at some point ... our gang.
So, if you feel like helping out ... in honor of Bob and others, would you at least offer some prayers? And if you can, please consider giving to the Red Cross.
Here's the Red Cross link for info and donations ...

Thanks.

OFFLINE | Good going Scott! Boy being kicked when there down, this country sure seems to go through a lot and keeps on going. Says something about the will of Americans. It sure was a tragedy what we have seen on the news. If they are going to try to use up the stimulas anyway, it would be a great way to help people who ran out of unemployment and victoms too. Tents, busses, and helping hands across America. The working can send $$ to Red Cross, yes!!! |

OFFLINE | Thanks Bob for bumping this up. I'm SORRY I never responded sooner, it's NOT because I ignored it, I wasn't online.
I thanked Bob on his page for posting info also and for the donations info, but thank U for posting it here also. When a series of tornados hit around here the devastation was horrific, but luckily there were no deaths.

OFFLINE | When I heard of the tornado's destruction and the devastation, the first thing I did was make a donation to the America Red Cross !
I too have kept in touch with Bob and tried to pass along updates to mutual friends as I could.
I recall many moons ago having ice storms hit the Kansas City area, we were out of electricity for a full week ... and it sucked especially since I had young kids at the time. Being in the Kansas portion of tornado alley, I completely understand what these storms can do ... |
