OFFLINE | The death of Osama bin Laden is inflaming anti-American sentiment around the world. Al Qaeda has vowed revenge against the United States for the death of their leader. Today protesters have gathered in London to speak out about their anger over the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.
A crowd of hundreds of people have attempted to storm the embassy of the United States in London. One of the signs seen at the violent protest says "Islam will dominate the world." A protester said "It is only a matter of time before another atrocity -- the West is the enemy."
Police have stepped in to separate Osama Bin Laden supporters and members of the English Defence League outside the US embassy in central London.
Supporters held a "funeral service" for Bin Laden after his killing by US special forces in Pakistan on Monday.
Angry protesters taunted each other with chants of "USA, burn in hell" and "Obama, burn in hell".
US leaders were branded "murderers" by radicals, who warned vengeance attacks were "guaranteed".
The pro-bin Laden event was organised by controversial preacher Anjem Choudary. He has already warned of another 7/7-style terror attack in the wake of bin Laden's death.
and this is in the capital of our closest allie in the world...
meanwhile, in egypt
CAIRO — About 200 demonstrators gathered outside the United States Embassy here on Friday to protest the killing and burial at sea of Osama bin Laden as manifestations of what they called American hostility to Muslims.
Like many in Egypt, most in the crowd said they doubted Bin Laden’s responsibility for the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and instead vented pent-up resentment of America for its invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as its support for Israel.
Such demonstrations were prohibited before the Feb. 11 revolution that ousted President Hosni Mubarak, and Egyptians have been relishing their chance to speak out.
there have also been rallies in istanbul, pakistan, and around the muslim world.
so i guess it's a good thing we didn't release any photos to "inflame" muslims, and that whole muslim burial thing really worked out well for us too. |

OFFLINE | Be careful dod. Posts like that are one reason I've been labeled right wing evil person driving everyone away. What Delta Airlines did was wrong. If they passed the scanners and metal detectors, they should be allowed to fly. But I wonder if something else was going on that made the pilot suspicious? But given the activities in Dod's post, I'm not shocked they were kicked off that plane. Not PC, but why is it we are criticized for not being PC but Muslims often get a pass? Simple answer. Its because Political Correctness is not concerned with fairness. It is simply a way to bully people into silence.
In other news:
CAIRO – Relations between Egypt's Muslims and Christians degenerated to a new low Sunday after riots overnight left 12 people dead and a church burned, adding to the disorder of the country's post-revolution transition to democracy. The attack on the church was the latest sign of assertiveness by an extreme, ultraconservative movement of Muslims known as Salafis, whose increasing hostility toward Egypt's Coptic Christians over the past few months has met with little interference from the country's military rulers.
Salafis have been blamed for other recent attacks on Christians and others they don't approve of. In one attack, a Christian man had an ear cut off for renting an apartment to a Muslim woman suspected of involvement in prostitution.
(Kano, Nigeria) - Seventeen residents of a Christian village, including a pastor's wife and three children are massacred in a pre-dawn Muslim attack.
North Carolina. A leader of a major American Muslim organization, the Muslim American Society (MAS), is arguing that there "was nothing wrong with" Osama bin Laden's dream of creating a renewed Caliphate.
India. Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, along with hundreds of people offered funeral prayers in absentia(Gayibana Nimaaz Jinaza) for slain Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, after Friday prayers in uptown Batamaloo here.
London, May 07, 2011 Queen of Pop Madonna has split from her toyboy lover Brahim Zaibat, a strict Muslim, over religious differences. Guess she found that Muslims arent as tolerant as liberal Americans thought. Lol!
But Americans....and Christians are the persecutors of the world. Yeah...right.
Dod, its discrimination by the media and by anti American and anti Judeo Christians in general. Muslims get a pass...nearly always. (Which is another reason Bin Laden's attack on 9-11 was stupid. Dont bit the hand tht feeds ya. Liberals love Islam because they oppose Christians and Jews! So you attack them...in liberal NYC???? What a buffoon!). |

OFFLINE | Oh...and let us not forget the Five members of Jewish family killed in suspected Palestinian militant attack
Parents and three children aged between three months and 11 knifed to death in their West Bank home. The parents and three children, aged 11, three and three months, were attacked with knives in their house in the West Bank settlement of Itamar, near the Palestinian city of Nablus, on Friday. It is believed that two of the dead had their throats cut.
The alarm was raised by the couple's 12-year-old daughter, who had been at an event organised by a religious youth movement on the settlement and returned home to find the bloodsoaked scene.
Afterward, Muslims in Gaza handed out candy in celebration of the barbarity. |

Is a bit ironic, they were kicked off a flight on their way to a conference on Islamophobia.....
Yep, you're right. It is acts just like this that pissed Muslims off in the first place. Everyone knows that the fear some feel about Muslims has nothing to do with terror tactics. It is all just baseless. |

OFFLINE | you're exactly right dennis. it's hard to draw a moral equivalency between muslims getting booted off a plane, and the kinds of violence we see coming out of the middle east. not to say these guys should have been kicked off the plane, but i'll wait to see if there were any other factors besides their garb that led to it. i remember a bunch of fundamentalist jews got kicked off a plane not long ago, because they were doing some crazy ritual onboard that scared the passengers. with the world we live in, it's frightening to have people chanting or acting strange on a plane.
it really is amazing to me how liberals haven't yet figured out that adherence to islam and western liberal ideals just don't mesh. i mean even the most moderate of western muslims are more conservative than most american conservatives. if the west suddenly became dominated by islam, these very same people would bemoan the loss of many of their freedoms. and this is even more true when speaking of muslims in the arabic world. i mean how many liberals want to move to the middle east because it's so left leaning and freedom oriented?
i think where their confusion comes from, is this: the driving force behind the world view of a modern leftist is political ideology. in a sense, matters of the state substitute for matters of the faith, to the extent they define who their followers are, and how they see the world. true religion is treated as just a secondary, superstitious, outdated belief system, that people like to fall back on, in order to make themselves feel better. and all the experience western leftists have really had with religion, has been with christianity. and the left has really been successful at pushing back the influence of christianity, and marginalizing it wherever leftist ideology has spread (namely western europe, canada, and the u.s., and of course the old soviet union). faith is no longer integral in everyday life here, and is basically paid lip service to. it's not the dominant factor in shaping political opinions of the "mainstream culture."
but muslims don't pay lip service to islam. especially those that live in the islamic world. for them, there is no separation between politics and religion, and they wont let their religion become marginalized. i think this is responsible for the air of antagonism that exists between islam and western liberal ideals. this is why they are so resistant to our way of life.
christians want a christianity dominated globe, like muslims want an islamic dominated world. the difference is that christians seek to do this through charity, and witnessing to people. they seek to convince people and change their hearts with good deeds. muslims follow a much more direct, confrontational faith. if people are unwilling to conform with the teachings of islam, then they are an adversary. they are then standing in the way of islam, and their minds must either be changed, or they have to get out of the way. when the koran says something, it's not just some casual suggestion from a bygone era, it's law. it's allah's will. and maybe it's just the modern interpretation, but that interpretation is pretty decisively hardline. |

OFFLINE | Well said! And liberals are really lucky here too because (despite what some claim) Christianity really and truly is a faith of peace. If it werent, if it were Islamic Taliban instead, there would be no ACLU, no NPR, no liberal professors in our Universities. There would be no 'Pride' marches. No one would openly claim to be Atheist, or gay or feminist. 'Dont ask-dont tell' would not be an issue.
There would be 1 state church. Chances are that Sharia law would be the rule of the day. Women could forget all of their rights and privlages. No school, no going out without a family member, no divorce settlements, and its quite likely that little girls would be mutilated so they could never enjoy sex.
You think its bad when a Christian witnesses to you? How about people dragging you from your homes if you fail to kneel before Mecca 5 times a day? And you could forget about PG 13 or higher rated films? Think of your favorite tv show? Then think of what Islamic tv must be like?
No 'The View'. No Rosie O'Donnel. Not even Oprah. No 'Desperate Housewives or whatever either. No football, no basketball...the national sport would be a bunch of men riding camels and kicking around a sheep's head.
So maybe we Christains arent really that bad after all. Lol! |
