Well I don't know about anybody else, but it seems that half the US is being snowed in this week.  Here in Oklahoma we got 15 inches of snow last night and today.  The most bizarre thing I have ever encountered was the sleet, snow, lightning and thunder last night.  I have never seen such a thing in my life.  They closed the kiddos school before it even started doing anything.  My husband and I thought we would be really dedicated employees this morning and carpool in the 4 wheel drive to work....however when we opened the garage door to warm up the car, there was a snow drift up so high we were not going anywhere.  Fortunately both our employers said no work today....or tomorrow...maybe even the next day.  I kind of get the feeling there is going to be some serious cabin fever goin on in our house by the end of the week.

How about you?

look on the bright side. a lot of meteorologists are saying we're entering a 20-30 year cooling cycle, so this year's winter may be warmer than those to come.

Live in the South part of TX..south of Houston...loving it here because typically we are so much warmer...but today we have 20+ degree weather.  Which is ridiculous for here....I don't even want to go out in that...the winds are just bitter

Well we dodged a lot of the storm.....thankfully.... we ended up with only about 4 inches of snow...plus some inches of sleet on top of that....I guess most of our snow tracked north...so it went into Canada (remember, Canada...you always like to share with US in the winter.... turnaround is only fair play!!!)  Got our driveway cleared out..and hubby on the road...and I have a SNOW DAY!!!  Carol...not sure how old your kids are... my kids always loved when we took out every blanket/sheet/etc. and all the chairs we had (and if you have a couple card tables.... and they would create HUGE tent cities....kept them busy most of the day...in fact, they'd normally sneak in there with a pillow and a book...snuggle in and read!!  Good luck to you on your cabin fever!

Yep, we got the ice Monday in Kansas City area (I'm on Kansas side)  ... and then 8 to 12 inches of snow depending on where you live in Kansas City.  After 6, does it really matter ?    The blizzard conditions, wind and drifting made it treacherous to drive .. very low visibility.  Many highways shut down.  State of emergency declared.  The National Guard is assisting with stranded peeps.  The office closed for the day which is unheard of.  Schools called off for last two days.  The city is shut down for the most part ... we'll try to get out later.    Winds have died down ... and now we shovel out.  Thank goodness for good young strong backs !

Down further south in the Lake of the Ozarks, we gotten 18 to 24 inches.  I hope and pray that the dock holds out at my lake place

We don't have snow, but sheets of ice on streets, making it extremely difficult to drive. Schools have been closed for two days and the major districts are already shutting down for tomorrow. If they (major districts) make a decision this early, the other districts won't be far behind.

The snowfall we had in early January (8 inches) in Alabama was the third largest on record...  Schools out for an entire week...  For the winter overall, it's been the most I've seen.
