OFFLINE | Plz share all Customs ROMs which u have installed. Here is a list of most ROMs available on the market right now and their links for instructions to download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131993,
Generally, things to check and note before you flash your ROM are:
1. Your Kernel and firmware version so that you can flash back if something goes terribly wrong. (Not sure whether can flash a diff kernel as the original or not. Sm1 plz confirm).
2. Check that the kernel u have is compatible with the version of the ROM.
3. Some ROM will wipe off everything on your phones but some do not. So plz read very carefully before installing.
4. If u soft-brick brick your phone, flash back the kernel and firmware which can be found on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278. Read this page very carefully before you do anything!!! By soft-brick I mean every time u try to boot up the phone the screen shows a "phone, !, computer". You'll know wad I mean when u (God Forbid) get there. Soft-brick will still allow u to go download mode if u 1. power off the phone and 2. press "Power, vol down and home" buttons all at once to initiate download mode. If this does not work then plz go to XDA Developers forum and try to settle it.
5. Be very careful. If u hard-brick your phone (can't boot up, screen shows black no matter wad u press), good luck charlie as software methods can't accomplish anything. U need special hardware to bring your phone back to normal and normally only the Manufacturer (Samsung) or some mad genius in some obscure part of the globe can do it. Sg might have such services so plz do share if u know.
6. Most importantly, be patient!! I can't stress this enough as I bricked my phone two times.
Happy Flashing!! (Not that kind of pervert flash but ROM flash....) |

Go to Settings>About Phone>Baseband version. E.g. I910XXKF2. Ignore the I9100 and focus on the XXKF2. Thats your kernel. For a detailed guide, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278. Basically Singapore SGS2 ships in XXKF2 kernels. I can't be too sure on this but those are my observations all these while. Have yet to see other SGS2 phones in SG having different kernels. But I'm very happy to be corrected on this. |
