I use seeking sitters (https://www.seekingsitters.com) fairly regularly and have never had a bad experience.  You register and pick your sitter and dates online. It's like a modern Babysitters Club. Every sitter has been professional and wonderful with my children. Each has gotten my rambunctious toddler to nap, has cleaned up after herself, and has provided me with information on how the kids' day went. I have my favorite sitters  but have no problem with a new sitter at the last minute, because of the quality of the sitters I have had so far. I highly recommend this service! Their rates are reasonable as well.
