San Francisco has informed federal immigration authorities that it will soon release illegal aliens who have committed crimes. Fox News legal analyst Kimberly Guilfoyle explained. "The federal government has a plan to identify and remove criminal aliens from the community," Guilfoyle reported, "but the sheriff in San Francisco says they're going to release them back into the community. San Francisco will be violating the law."

Ok.  So a city official has decided to defy federal law.  It isnt the 1st time.  There are sanctuary cities all over country...in defiance of Federal law.  Also I remember a flap about one mayor in Cali allowing gay marriages.  Fine.

On the tv show last night the guests suggested that the Feds could cut off funding to San Francisco if they release these criminals.    But my thinking is... the Sheriff wont care.  Here is 1 sheriff who has put an entire city in danger of losing its funding.  

Since we've seen cities defy Fed laws before, its clear that the threat of losing funding wont get them to change their mind.  they'll just raise taxes.  So why not hit the ones who actually decide to break Fed law?  Why cant the Feds fine them severely.  Instead of hurting an entire city, why not slap that sheriff with a $150 thousand dollar fine and maybe some jail time?

Yep.  I think it would be much more effective to nail the one or ones (maybe a city council) who break the law, than to penalize a city's infrastructure and law enforcement agencies.  That sheriff may not like our immigration policy, but his deputies might be busting butt trying to do the right thing.  So our govt (imo) should nail that sheriff to the wall).
